When I woke up again, the sun was shining into my room. I stretched and reached into my bedside table and pulled out my brush. I should be doing Evelyn's hair right now, listening to her little giggles. I walked out of my bedroom and saw my two fathers smiling at me.
"Good morning, Elsie Mae." Alexander said smiling.
"Good morning." I replied.
"Eliza said she would like to have you over at the orphanage to help you get ready for the party tonight." John smiled. I nodded. Then the three of us had our first breakfast together as a family.
When we were finished, I changed into my work dress then left for the orphanage. The sun was shining as I walked down the dirt road. As I neared the familiar building, I started thinking about how excited I was to see the children. It's only been a day but I miss them all so much already. Before I went inside I smoothed out my dress. I opened the door of my old home and walked inside. I heard the laughing of children coming from the playroom. I decided to surprise them before I went to find Miss Eliza. I walked to the room and stood in the doorway for a minute until I saw a familiar little boy facing the other way. I tiptoed to where Tommy was sitting and picked him up.
"AHHHHH!" He screamed and turned around. "ELSIE!!!!" He jumped into my arms.
"ELSIE!" The other kids cheered and ran over to me. I hugged each one of them and promised I would be back after I was done with Miss Eliza. Tommy refused to leave me so I told him that he could come with me and watch me get ready. He grabbed my hand and we made our way over to Miss Eliza's office.
"Oh, good morning Elsie Mae. Are you ready?" Miss Eliza asked. I nodded then followed her up the stairs into her bedroom.
"Sit here." She instructed, pointing at a chair near one of the corners of the room. I did what I was told. Tommy climbed up on the bed and sat down smiling. Miss Eliza came back with things to fix my hair with. She took a brush and combed out my brown hair. She refused to let me look at it until it was completely done. She then led me to her wardrobe where she kept all of her old dresses. She looked at a dress then would look at me, trying to find the perfect one. Then she held up a dark green dress and her eyes sparkled. She shows the dress to Tommy who smiled and nodded excitedly. I took off my work dress and she helped me put the new dress over my head. She finally brought me to a mirror. I looked like an adult I hugged her and thanked her.
After I went downstairs and showed the children I stayed and played with them until lunch time. After I ate with them, I bid my goodbyes to everyone and headed back home to get ready for the party
