Elsie Mae's POV
"Elsie Mae, meet your new parents." Miss Eliza's words sounded completely foreign to me. I stood there with my mouth open. No matter how unladylike it is, I don't care.
"Excuse me, what?" I said completely in shock.
"Alexander and John have decided to adopt you." When she said that, the tears immediately began to fall. I ran into my new parents arms.
A few minutes later, I found myself taking my belongings out of the small bedside table and collecting my few dresses that I had. I got adopted. After so many years of being orphaned, homeless, and alone, I finally have a family. I hurried and finished packing my belongings then went to the front of the building.
Before I left I made sure to hug every child and Miss Eliza told me I was allowed to come and visit whenever I wanted to. I promised the children I would come as much as I possibly could and maybe even stay the night sometimes. I hugged a sobbing Tommy one last time then walked toward my new parents. Miss Eliza came up and hugged me. All of this seems so unreal to me. I feel like this is just a big dream that I will wake up from any minute due to Evelyn's lovely wake up call every morning. When Alexander took my small hand in his big one, I knew it wasn't a dream. I smiled and looked at both of my new fathers and holding hands, the three of us walked out the orphanage door.
