Super High Ch.1
Aria
A loud buzzing sound and flashing red lights woke me up this morning. I ignored it because that meant my dad and stepmom had to go to work.
"This is not a drill! I repeat, this is not a drill!" I heard my father, Martin Williams, shout through the penthouse. I was up and down the stairs in a flash, my hands alite, along with my my twin sister and older brother. We stood back to back as we looked around our New York City penthouse for anything suspicious.
"Good. You're all up. Go get dressed. It's the first day of school." Dad laughed when he saw us. I glared at him and our stepmom, Marcia Williams.
"You couldn't have just woken us up like normal people?" Darnell Holmes, my brother, grumbled as he walked back upstairs. My sister, Jamie Holmes, and I walked into the kitchen with a sigh as we looked for something to eat.
"Heat this up for me, Aria?" Jamie asked as she handed me a plate of microwaveable pancakes.
"Sure." I touched the plate and gave it back to her, the pancakes piping hot.
"Thanks." Jamie muttered as she poured syrup over her pancakes. I ate my chocolate cereal as I leaned against the counter. When we finished, Jamie waved her hand and the plate and bowl were sopping wet in the sink.
"See ya in a few." Jamie said as we walked into our separate rooms.
I went to my closet and picked out an outfit for the first day of my junior year of high school. I attend Layola High School in the Upper East Side, along with my siblings and friends since childhood. Layola is a private school for children with special needs. Not Special Education or anything like that, it is just a very special school.
"Are you ready yet?" Darnell shouted at Jamie and I. He was our ride to school.
"Yeah! We're coming! Hold your horses!" Jamie and I shouted as we ran out of our rooms and to the bathroom. We quickly brushed our teeth before going downstairs. I had on a British flag tank top with light colored ripped jeans, a black DOPE beanie over my curly hair, dark pink high top Pastry sneakers, a dark brown Louis Vuitton bag, and my prescribed Ray Ban glasses. Jamie was wearing the same thing I was, except her jeans were dark colored, her shoes were a dark purple, and her bag was white.
"Ready?" Darnell asked.
"Yes. Did they leave already?" Jamie responded.
"They left as soon as you two came upstairs." Darnell sighed as we got into his car and drove to school. "We should have walked. The traffic is horrible."
"I know, but I can't get my shoes messed up." I said. Darnell rolled his eyes at me.
It took us twenty minutes to get to school when on foot it would take less than five.
"We're walking tomorrow." Jamie agreed with Darnell as we drove up to the security gate.
"Hello Holmes kids. Good to see all three of you back for another year." The guard smiled and let us in. Darnell found a great parking spot towards the front doors of the school. Layola was more of a castle than a school.
"Now get out." Darnell barked at us as his girlfriend came to the car. She got in as we got out and I don't even want to know what they did in there. I looked around the school grounds and saw kids flying into school and playing around on the grass.
"Freeze!" My best friend, Alexis Nguyen, shouted at me as my feet became frozen to the ground. I laughed as the ice melted into a puddle at my feet.
