Summary: Luke thinks back on the day he met Jax

It was super cold. The snow fell down around me, covering me in snowflakes. I quickly ran into the nearest building I saw – Starbucks! For almost anyone else, coffee would have been the one thing to brighten their day in weather like this. Not me. I absolutely hated coffee. Thankfully, I walked in to find that the place only had two others in it; a girl on her laptop who was eagerly sipping a lidded cup, no doubt gaining warmth from the action, and a guy on his phone with his earbuds in, nibbling at a scone topped with what looked suspiciously like raspberry jam and whipped cream.

I walked up to the counter where a boy who looked around my age was leaning against a coffee machine, an action which was probably dangerous considering what would happen if he knocked it over.

"How may I help you?" He asked politely, a friendly smile across his – quite frankly, kissable – lips.

"Mm... surprise me." I answered, offering a grin. "I'll have anything that's warm and not coffee."

He nodded, chuckling. "One hot chocolate coming right up. Name?"

"Luke." I replied.

His smile only increased, and a wink was sent my way. "Cute name."

The action, having made me blush, also caused me to look down for a few moments before back up again as I answered as to not be rude. "Thanks." Was my breathy reply.

He turned around and began working at the machine he'd been leaning on prior to our conversation. When he turned to the side, probably grabbing something for the hopefully delicious hot chocolate, I managed to catch a glimpse of his name tag.

Jax.

Interesting.

After a few noises and pulls of different levers, Jax turned back to me and placed a cup on the counter, my name written in big bold letters on the white, Styrofoam exterior.

"Thanks, Jax," I said, handing him the required couple of coins and notes.

"No problem, Luke."

He reached down and picked up the cup just as I was about to, and handed it to me. The very tips of my chilled fingers brushed against his warmer ones. A jolt of electricity ran up my arm and hence, goosebumps erupted over my skin.

I quickly took the cup.

"Have a nice day." He said, tone hushed.

My voice was similar in volume. "Yeah. You too."

I turned and walked out the door, smiling to myself.

"Luke?"

Having been lost in my thoughts for the past however many minutes, I shook my head to bring myself back into the real world. I turned to the voice, smiling when I saw Jax was in the doorway.

"What're you doing?" He asked casually, walking further into the room.

I shrugged and turned back to the window. The direction of the wind blowing outside caused snowflakes to land on the window, and it made me the slightest bit upset that I couldn't trace then.

Jax sat next to me and wrapped his arm around my body, eventually tugging me up onto his lap. He glanced out of the window, just as I was.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?"

I nodded in agreement.

"What were you thinking about?" He asked, a hand coming up to brush a few stray curls behind my ear.

"I was thinking about the day we first met. In Starbucks."

"Yeah, I remember." He smiled fondly. "You wanted something warm, a surprise, but anything except coffee. You hate coffee."

I nodded again, turning towards him and snuggling into his chest, my face going directly to the warmest part – his neck.

"I'm glad it was snowing that day. Snowing so hard that I had to go into a Starbucks just to warm up." I laughed, reminiscing. "I'm glad I met you."

Jax smiled widely. "I'm glad I met you too." He responded. "I don't ever want to imagine what my life would be like without you." He kissed my forehead, or, part of my head since I had managed to bury myself in the crook of his neck.

A few minutes of silence pass, though it was probably just a few seconds. I tend to exaggerate. "Jax?"

"Yes, Luke?"

"I love you."

"I love you, too."

Hey, guys! This one shot was somewhat prompted by my friend Asher. I was bored, so he gave me a sentence to build off of. "It was super cold." This is what it turned into.

I hope you liked it! Sorry it was short, I didn't really know what to write about. Hopefully you like it.
