Christen walked into the room and placed the roses and box of stuff on the desk next to Tobin. She sat next to Tobin, who was still staring at the wall, crying. They both sat in silence. Tobin felt as if her world was crashing down too because she didn't know she meant so much to Alex.

After hearing what Alex said about her, a small memory came into Tobin's mind. She remembered meeting Alex, on the first day of high school. She thought Alex was the most beautiful girl in the world and immediately wanted to become her friend. And soon enough they became best friends. But that was all she remembered, meeting Alex.

Tobin's heart was hurting, but it wasn't because she felt guilty for hurting Alex. It was because Alex left her. A part of Tobin's heart yearned for Alex, but she didn't know why; she thought she wanted Christen. Tobin didn't know what to do, but finally she realized that she may never see Alex again so she needed Christen. She needed Christen to fill that void Alex left. She needed Christen to be her Alex.

Christen had a feeling that Alex knew about her having feelings for Tobin. And Alex knew that Tobin had feelings for Christen because right when Christen walked in, Tobin wanted to let go of Alex's hand, but Alex didn't let her. That's when Alex knew she was nothing to Tobin now.

Tobin snapped back to reality and looked at Christen who was silently crying.

"Hey, you okay? Why are you crying?"

Christen quickly wiped her eyes and slowly picked her head up to look at Tobin. "Oh, nothing, I'm just tired and I yawned," Christen lied.

Tobin frowned, "Please don't lie to me, tell me what's wrong." But Tobin already knew what was wrong. She heard everything in the hallway, but she didn't want to tell Christen.

Christen sighed, "Um, Alex left and I don't know when she's coming to see you again. But she told me to tell you that she said, 'I love you too.'"

Tobin pretended to act confused because she already knew what Alex said. She heard everything in the hallway, but Christen and Alex didn't know that.

"I told her I was trying," Tobin said putting her head down.

Christen held Tobin's hand, "When I looked into Alex's eyes, I could tell she was very tired. She said she's letting you go as in she doesn't want to wait for you to love her back. I think she thinks that you, um, have feelings for me."

Tobin picked her head up. She knew that Alex told Christen to take care of her, but she also knew that Christen promised Alex to make her remember Alex. "Well, she's not wrong," Tobin said while squeezing Christen's hand.

Christen's heart immediately started to beat faster. She looked at Tobin who was looking at her with light eyes. Christen wished she could be happy, but she knew that deep down in Tobin's heart, Tobin wanted Alex. But Christen had feelings for Tobin too and she knew that for as long as she could, she can keep Tobin happy. And that's when Christen realized, there's only a matter of time until Tobin will remember Alex so she made a promise to herself that she will keep Tobin happy for as long as she can. She promised herself that when Tobin remembers Alex, she will forget Tobin. So Christen decided to do something. "Don't forget about the promise you made to Alex." And in that moment, Christen leaned it and pressed her lips against Tobin's.

Tobin at first was surprised when she felt Christen's lips amongst hers, but then she kissed Christen back. It was a nice, quick kiss, but Tobin didn't feel fireworks like she thought she would. Christen pulled away and looked at Tobin. She saw in Tobin's eyes that it was just a kiss, nothing more, nothing less. She knew that Tobin didn't feel something, but she let it go.

"That was nice," Tobin lied.

Christen smiled and nodded and immediately wanted to forget about the kiss. She then grabbed the box of stuff from the desk. "I brought you some snacks and some movies to watch. I also brought some soccer video games if you wanted to play."

Tobin laughed, "Thank you, Christen."

Christen could read Tobin like a book. That was one of Christen's specialties, she could read people. She saw that Tobin was upset and did not enjoy the kiss as much as she thought she would. She knew that Tobin was starting to miss Alex.

She grabbed Tobin's hands and gave it a light squeeze. "Alex will come see you again, I know she will."

Tobin looked at Christen and wasn't expecting her to say that. All that was on Tobin's mind was Alex and she wondered if Christen had read her mind. Small memories of Alex were starting to pop into Tobin's head.

Memory – Freshman year

Alex and Tobin were walking to their lunch table. Tobin received a text from Coach Jill saying that the results were up.

"Hey Alex, the results are up! Coach Jill just texted me. We have to see if we made the team!" Tobin said while grabbing Alex's hand and pulling her to the soccer field.

Alex had not time to say anything, but she smiled wide when she saw how happy Tobin was. She was happy that Tobin was holding her hand, but she knew that Tobin just meant it in a friendly gesture.

They arrived at the soccer field and were the first ones there. They both ran to the standings to see the results posted. They both read through the list and then looked at each other.

"We both made it!" Alex shouted.

"I know!" Tobin shouted back while hugging Alex and spinning her around.

Alex was giggling while being spun around. "Toby, put me down or else I will barf on you!"

Tobin put Alex down, "You did not just call me Toby."

"Oh, but I just did...Toby," Alex said laughing.

Tobin glared at Alex and started to chase her. Alex ran away from Tobin as fast as she could. But then, she tripped over her own shoes and fell.

Tobin ran over to her laughing her head off. "Not such a baby horse now, huh?"

Alex glared at Tobin who offered her a hand to get up. Instead of getting up, Alex pulled Tobin down to the ground. Tobin fell but immediately started laughing. They both were lying on the ground staring at the sky, but Tobin could see in the corner of her eye that Alex was staring at her.

Tobin didn't know why she wanted Alex now all of a sudden. It was as if her heart remembered Alex, but her brain doesn't. It was frustrating and she kept thinking about how Alex left her. And that's when she decided to try and forget about Alex because all that she needed was right in front of her, Christen.

Christen could tell Tobin was in her own little world so she decided to leave.

"You look like you need some alone time so I'm going to go."

Tobin snapped back to reality and looked at Christen who was about to leave the room. "No, wait! Please stay."

Christen turned to see Tobin with concern in her face. This time she saw that Tobin needed her, but she wanted to hear Tobin say it herself. She walked back next to Tobin, "Everything okay?"

"I just need you to stay with me."
