A kid, a wife! Oh God! Did she even know how much of a flirt her husband was?
Christina ground her teeth together and smacked her face into the bathroom's wall for the fourth time.
She'd been in here half an hour, ever since Ry and Zeke had gotten into a testosterone fueled staring contest.
  Arrg, my life sucks.
"Hey Christina, Zeke just got a call from Josie, we have to head out now or we're going to be trapped." Uriah banged on the door again. "Come on, beauty queen, hurry up. Your looks are not worth your life."
"Maybe they are!" Christina yelled back.
"Ha ha, funny. Now come on, I need help packing and someone's going to have to make a run to Four's old place."
With one final sigh Christina turned from the mirror and braved the company of men once again.
Zeke and Ry were already waiting at the door where as Uriah was darting around grabbing last minute items from around his home.
"Uriah, we have to go. Things can be replaced, life can't." Zeke's voice rang with finality.
Uriah glanced at him from a kitchen cupboard. "Go if you want, I'll follow."
Zeke opened his mouth but Christina cut him off.
"I'll stay with him, Zeke. Wait for us by the net, if we're not there after ten minutes or if someone comes to get you, then meet us where we left Tris."
Ry looked at Christina, his eyes boring a hole through her skull into her brain, looking for any doubts or fears. "You sure you want us to you here?"
"Absolutely. Now go, Factionless can't be far away."
Zeke nodded and darted to his brother giving him a quick hug before leaving. Ry stood still, just watching Christina for a moment as Christina watched him. For that one moment, it was just Christina and him, saying a quick goodbye in their own way.
When then moment was over Ry turned in his heel and left the apartment, millimeters behind Zeke.
Christina stood stock still, missing the warmth Ry's gaze had given her. She pulled herself from her thoughts and glanced to Uriah, who was still scrying around, grabbing this and that.
"Uriah, can we make a deal?"
Uriah's head shot up. "Um, what do you,..what kind of deal?"
"Don't let me break my heart again. And if you see me about to, yank me back, no matter how much I fight you."
Uriah examined her, his eyes scrutinizing hers. "OK, as long as you do the same for me."
Christina felt relief pour through her chest. " I promise."
There wasn't much talking afterwards, just a constant jumbled mess of packing before a hurried race for the net.
........
Christina and Uriah bolted down passageways and corridors at breakneck speeds, always trying to out do one another.
Christina was a head now. If she could just reach the net first, she'd win. Feet slamming the ground and air rushing past Christina could taste Uriah's defeat.
But as she emerged into the net's cavern Ry spun around from his place by the stairs. When he saw her running Christina could almost hear his minds wheels turning. He lunged for her and shoved her behind him.
Uriah had been just centimeters behind her, and as Christina was grabbed, Uriah swished by and slammed up the stairs towards the net and then threw himself on to it, his body trembling with adrenaline and giggles.
Ry meanwhile was actively scanning the area, but it only took him seconds to realized his mistake. She could feel the muscles in his back relax as his shoulders dipped slightly.
"Tina, why were you running?" Ry voice held an odd mix of curiosity, annoyance and innocence.
"Because I was participating in a race that I lost because of you."
"Oh" Ry let go and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Sorry."
  "It's...OK." Christina murmured hesitantly.
"Hey! If you two are done with your awkward feast, maybe we could get going before we're captured and killed."
Ry glared at Uriah. "Sure, come on, Tina." Ry slipped his hand into hers and lead Christina towards the stair.
Christina's heart bumped along intime with some quick unheard beat.
Stop it! Christina mentally growled to her self.
No Way! Ry is holding you hand! Ry. Is. Holding. Hand. Right after he tried to save you! Her heart yelled back.
   Boy, you suck.
As Ry led Christina up the stairs, with Uriah and Zeke right behind, Christina continued with her internal battle. Her heart hadn't been like this since Will, and after he'd died, it had been through hell and back.
Now her head was trying it's best to protect her heart from feeling that pain all over again. But her heart wasn't listening.
The creaking of the door finally pulled her from her internal war. She pushed herself in next to Ry and helped push open the door.
The door swung open a bit too easily. Christina just had time think, "Aw crap" and see the pebbly roof zoom towards her face.
A yank on her arm seemed to make the whole world freeze. Christina's head whipped around to Ry, his hand firmly wrapped around her upper arm like a vice.
  "You OK?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." Christina hated herself for the almost stutter.
"Great!" Zeke yelled. "Then move your BUTTS AND LET ME OUT! URIAH FARTED!"
"DID NOT! THAT WAS YOU!" Uriah growled at Zeke and whacked Zeke's head.
Christina rolled her eyes and squished herself past Ry and out onto the roof, trying her best to distance her self from the boys.
She walked to the edge and stared down, remembering her first jump. Tris had jumped with her, Christina had landed laughing like a maniac with gravel stuck in her palms.
Her eyes now found the place on the cement where a stain of that red head's blood has been. Blood, like in the control room.
Running away with Ry, then the stress of their planing, then the race. Her head had been kept busy. Now here she was, the blood of the girl and the blood of the Factionless men spraying across her mind.
She turned to exam Ry. He hadn't freaked out like her. He'd been cool, a bit unnerved at first but then he just seemed to...turn off. His emotions and thoughts gone, just a robot going through its motions.
   How did he done that?
The familiar rumble brought her back to reality. A quick glance back at the track showed the train.
"Guys! Get ready to run!" Zeke, Uriah and Ry all stood from where they'd sat to rest for a bit, and made their way over to roof's corner where Christina met them.
"How do we get on? I mean, the track is higher then the roof." Ry sounded a little scared.
"Simple." Christina grinned at him then jumped off the roof.
She grabbed onto the track's support and began climbing it like a ladder. There was a slim platform next to the track on top. If this was a bulkier transport train the cars would push then right off.
Christina didn't have time to ponder that, she just ran as soon as her feet were securely under her again.
  Thank God
The cars were the slimer kind. She whacked a button as it passed her and leaped onto ladder beside the now opening door. She swung herself in, closly followed by the boys.
Christina crawled into a corner where she was joined by Zeke and Uriah. Ry stood by the door, messing with buttons near it until it closed.
"So ah, what's the plan now?" Ry asked, his back now resting against the wall.
   "Find Tris?" Zeke suggested.
   Christina shrugged. "Sure. Why not."
  "How?" Asked Uriah.
"We need someone in the inside, with access to the Factionless data base. I can think of two who'll help. No questions asked." Zeke proclaim.
  Christina nodded. "Cara and Four."
"Four? Can we trust him?" Ry's voice got gruff. Protective.
"Yes." Zeke left no room for argument. "We just may not be able to reach him. Cara's our best bet."
