Matty stared at the clock it was almost 6:30 and that was when Matty had to get going to catch his flight. He told George he was going to be gone for awhile, and he already made sure there was no gigs so that made things much easier.
He didn't pack anything because he wasn't going to take long so all he brought was his phone and his charger. He checked if his ride was here to take him to the airport. It was a bit late so Matty decided to drink a bit while he waited.
Once he was done with his drink he went down to the lobby to check if his driver was there. It wasn't so Matty sat in one of the large comfortable lobby chairs. He grabbed a magazine that was set on the coffee table for guests amusement. He skimmed through a few, but none of them caught his attention.
He set them all down and went out into the sidewalk to smoke. Right when he lit it the dark SUV pulled up. He dropped the cigarette and stepped on it and opened the door and swung himself in. He slammed the door shut.
"Where's the other boys?" The driver asked looking at Matty through the rear view mirror and started driving out.
"It's just me, lad." Matty dug into his pocket to take out the small container of weed from his pocket, "You don't mind if I...?" Matty looked at his usual driver, he shrugged.
"Thanks mate." As Matty rolled up the blunt he remembered about the whole-not-telling-the-band-where-he-was-going-thing. "It'd be great if you don't tell the other boys where I'm at, if they ask just tell them I'm out." The driver nodded and Matty sat back again trying to get comfortable.
"Where exactly are you going?" His driver asked again as he drove down down the next street.
"Doesn't really matter." Matty shrugged looking out the window and lighting his blunt.
"If they ask what should I tell them?"
"Just that I'm out."
"Alright, enjoy yourself sir." The driver said before he kept from asking questions so he would bother Matty.

Once Matty was in his seat in the airplane he grabbed a blanket and covered himself in it. He wasn't exactly sure what was going on, he was just sure this way he wouldn't be bothered for those 11-10 hours of being on that airplane.
Some flight attendants did look at him funny when the first thing he did was cover himself when he was going to be the only one in the large seat. In those two large seats, actually. He also bought a second plane ticket with him. Not only that, he reeked of weed. But of course, they said nothing.
Matty also kept his face covered he wore dark glasses and had his hair stuffed in a beanie. He wore his sweater zipped up all the way too, he didn't want anyone to make a big deal out of this. This was his personal life and he should be the only one to make decisions and give himself his own opinions.

Matty ended falling asleep for those last hours of the ride and before he knew it he was back in LA. Right when he got out of the airport he went straight to Denny's by a stupid taxi driver  who got mad for going too close, but who cares Matty was hella hungry. He yelled at the man saying that that's why they were losing their jobs to Uber because of their terrible service.
When he got into the restaurant and got seated he ordered three large plates of pancakes, burgers, and some weird ass sandwich, goddamn it, all the food there look good. Plus, Matty hadn't eaten all day either.
As Matty was on his last plate of  food he messaged an Uber to take him to a hotel so he can get a room before he left to go find Jackie. God, that sounded so weird for him to think too.
Matty was very productive. On his way to the hotel he rented a car, and did some persuading of the company to come and drop it off themselves instead of him having to go.
Not only that, but once he booked a room he drove out and contacted Jackie's parents asking where she was. He lied saying he needed to give her her wedding present early because he wouldn't be able to come to the wedding. That changed the tone in her voice and she became calm and told him the address Jackie was at.
It annoyed him with how okay she was with Jackie getting married so soon, but her mother continued talking about how Jackie was still young and how she didn't want to be a grandmother just yet. Matty would leave small comments here and there trying not to be rude until he was almost at the house that the GPS lead him to. That's when he had to hang up.
Matty wasn't even exactly sure how he was going to even approach this whole thing, but he decided to get out the car anyways, with his sweater in the car since the weather was warm and he thought it would be easier if he just showed his face right away.
He knocked on the door softly and realized there was a lot of noise so he rang the door bell.

Many woman's groans were heard as they all were trying to figure out who it could be and who would go get it. Matty heard Jackie decide to get up and told them to continue having fun while she went to go see who it is.
"Remember, no boys allowed!" A voice that sounded like it came from an auntie reminded Jackie as she opened the door.

Jackie saw that it was Matty. She stood there staring at him for a minute. Matty wasn't sure how she would've reacted, but he still felt uncomfortable. Jackie slowly smiled.
"Look who showed up," She said in a more sarcastic tone.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry for springing up on you like this." Matty saw that it must've been a bridal shower and that he shouldn't be there, well he shouldn't be in California either. "Are you getting married tomorrow?" He raised his eyebrows.
"No, they've been partying all week and most likely next week, they just like to party." Jackie shrugged and crossed her arms.
Matty watched as she did so. He looked at her up and down; there was something different. "Did you cut your hair?"
"Yeah actually, haha" Jackie held the end of some part of her shoulder-length hair, "it was too long anyways.
"It looks good, you look nice with short hair." Matty smiled being scincere.
"Is there any real reason why you're here?"
The smile Matty had faded. "Yes actually, I need to talk to you." He took a couple steps back.
Jackie understood that he didn't want to be so close to the door or where people can hear. She closed the door softly and followed Matty to where he parked his car.
Matty didn't plan this out very well, he didn't pay attention to how far this would actually go. He saw that Jackie didn't feel very comfortable at the moment and he was worried that she probably wouldn't let him finish talking. She wrinkled her nose, probably because of the way he smelled.

"So, let's start off from when I found out," Matty saw that Jackie's face became confused, "A week or so passed since you've left. Nothing really felt the same since you've been gone, you've been around with the band since as long as I can remember. You've been a large part of all of our lives. I don't know how stubborn I was being about all of this. I wanted to believe that I only saw you as a friend, I really did." Matty watched as  Jackie's face fell, wondering exactly where this was going.
"When I went back to my room. I realized something. I was alone." Matty watched as Jackie held back her tears, "I sat in dark for a while and I did drink, yes. It was good for me though, don't worry because as I sat alone in the dark," Matty grabbed Jackie's hand, "I realized something, you were always there for me. You were my best friend. You were my everything. I was so stupid to not realize how much you really mean to me. Do you want to dance with me?" Jackie looked down immediately. Debating wether this was just because she was just was going to get married.
"Jackie, I love you." Those words. She's been waiting so long to hear them that she didn't hesitate to jump and kiss him. Matty was shocked at first not knowing where to put his hands but he put them on her waist as her hands were wrapped around his neck.
To her, this was everything. To her it was explosions and it just felt right when their lips began moving together. To Matty, it was just great. It was better than great.
Jackie pulled back smiled at him as he smiled back at her, "Run away with me." Matty said looking into her eyes. It was an insane idea, yes, but he had no plan either way.
"Yes, oh god yes." Jackie said kissing him again, "I think I'm going to go crazy if I stay here."
Matty moved away and opened the passenger door for her. He walked around and sat in ready to drive.

Matty was driving some where into Palmdale, or so Jackie said. He wasn't exactly sure where, honestly. He just kept driving. Almost every minute he would look at Jackie like if he would miss her completely if he didn't.
Matty held her hand as she played with his fingers, "Here I am driving god knows where, with the girl I stole at 10 at night," he squeezed her hand as he pulled it over to kiss it, "Today, could possibly be the best day ever."
Jackie laughed, "You could've just gotten lucky," she winked.
"My day's filled with luck. Maybe I can even win the lottery." Matty said it all with a smile, even though he wouldn't know what he would do with his money. Maybe buy Jackie whatever she wanted, who knows. Although he could do that now without winning.
"Why would you need to win the lottery?" Jackie laughed again rubbing the back of his hand with her thumb.
"You're right, I have everything I need right here." Matty looked at Jackie again and for the first time; Matty felt these words were completely true.
