The perspective of Ciel Phantomhive.
I stand near the back of the room, searching for that insolent Alois Trancy. I should've known that he would try to alter the story. He's practically insane. Crazy. Out of his mind.
I take slow, calculated steps around the guests. They all try to greet me or strike up a conversation. I stiffly brush them off.
Where's Sebastian? I'm going to need him for this. Before I can react, he is at my side.
"Sebastian, go find Trancy and bring him to me."
"Yes, my lord."
He's off, weaving is way through the crowd.
In a few minutes, he is back with Alois slung over his shoulder. A strange girl is following him, trying to keep up. I glare at her, hoping she'll go away. She looks me straight in the eye.
Sebastian lowers Alois to the ground.
He flashes me a cold glance.
A satisfied smirk plays on my lips.
"Alois Trancy. So nice to see you."
The perspective of Alois Trancy.
His voice is as sickly sweet as candy, but I can taste all of his sour undertones.
"Ciel Phantomhive." I address him.
I don't bother hiding my disdain for him.
Ciel's smirk disappears.
"I know what you did." He says,
"And I intend to make it right."
He draws a sword from his belt and points it straight at my neck.
"Alois Trancy, I challenge you to a duel."
The guests surround us like a ring of fire. They speak in hushed, uncertain voices. I look for Sam, but I cannot see them beyond the confused, tense faces. Ciel and I stand back to back. In my hands, I hold a silver sword. My palms are sweaty, and body quakes. I hope Ciel doesn't notice.
The crowd goes completely silent as we both take a step in opposite directions.
One.
My heart is beating so loudly, I'm surprised no one else can hear it.
Tw-
I whirl around prematurely, and charge towards Ciel. A shock comes over me when I see that he has already turned to face me. He was expecting this. I curse under my breath.
My sword catches his. The harsh echo of metal clashing with metal resonates throughout the manor.
I am constantly on the move, searching for weak spots in Ciel's defense, dodging every slash of his blade that would have otherwise killed me.
I still search the crowd for Sam at every opportunity.
C'mon, Alois. Don't get distracted.
Right.
I tear my eyes away from crowd.
Before I can do anything, I feel something pierce my shoulder.
It thrusts itself beneath my skin.
Pain rips through me. I feel the paralyzing sting of Ciel's sword in my left shoulder.
I can hear blood roaring in my ears.
I try to move, to pick up my blade, which has clattered to the ground. I stumble. I try to steady myself, but I am swept off of my feet, and fall to the cold tiles below.
I don't believe in any gods, but I pray that Ciel will kill me quickly and painlessly.
No!
You must get up! You must fight!
Don't die now! You must live-- you must!
I struggle, but I can barely move.
I reach out with my good arm.
"Please.... Ciel.... Mercy...." I croak.
The last thing I see is the bloodied silver blade of Ciel Phantomhive before everything goes black.
Your/Sam's perspective
All I see is a flash of silver. All I see is red fluid gushing from Alois's shoulder. All I hear is an inhuman scream.
I shove my way through the crowd.
"Alois!" I scream.
The crowd is in turmoil, I hear shouts and arguing all around me. A few rush over to help Alois. I run over to his side.
Ciel does nothing. He simply stands in his place and watches.
I look around wildly for anything that could possibly help.
Someone is trying to bandage his arm, wrapping it in a piece of torn fabric.
I lift his good arm and check his pulse.
He's just barely holding on, he's lost so much blood.
"Alois, please wake up!" I jiggle his shoulder in desperation.
No response.
We need a doctor. Or anyone with medical experience for that matter.
Please. Anyone.
*Timeskip by the power of.... Things.*
The perspective of Alois Trancy.
Opening my eyes just a tiny bit requires a great deal of effort.
I have a pounding headache.
I manage to open my eyes for a few seconds, but then I submit to blackness once more.
I can't tell if I've been out for minutes or days. I open my eyes, this time I manage to keep them open. As my surroundings come into focus, I hear Sam's voice.
"Oh, thank god you're awake!"
I reach out to her, and cry out in pain. My shoulder! I look over to see that it's wrapped in a clean, white bandage. It's stained with a little blood.
I observe my surroundings. I'm in my own room, in my own bed.
"How are you feeling? Ciel did a number on you. I thought you were done for."
My voice is weak.
"I'm.... I'm... Better..."
I try to sit up. It's difficult without the use of my left arm, but I manage.
"Take it easy, your Highness." Claude cautions me.
"Hey," Sam smiles wryly.
"I was, uh, really worried about you. I'm glad you're sort of okay."
"How long was I out?" I ask.
Sam bites their lip.
"Around.... 5, maybe 7 hours."
I don't know how to react.
. . .
A few days later, I've regained my strength, and some use of my left arm.
. . .
Today, I wish to enact vengeance upon Ciel, but I know that's exactly what he wants. He wants me to foolishly challenge him in a fit of anger, so he can take the opportunity to kill me.
I will not fall for his bait.
I will achieve my good ending.

FanfictionYou can give Alois Trancy a happy ending. Prevent his death. But not if you fall in love with him first. My first 'x reader' fanfiction. This story is old, and rather cringeworthy in my eyes. I'll keep it up for now, since people seem to like it.
