** Fourth of July

I pulled myself up and sat on the edge of the pool. I fixed my bathing suit then stood up.

G was still laughing on the other side of the pool. I flipped him the bird as I stood up and grabbed a towel. I wrapped my hair in it and walked over to the grill.

"Daddy did you see what Gregory did to me? He almost killed me" I pouted.

He laughed. "But did you die?"

I glared at him and changed the subject "Are the burgers done yet?"

Dad put the spatula down on the side and looked at me. "If your greedy ass asks me one more time girl"

I put my hands up in surrender "geez man I just want to eat"

He shook his head smiling.

Mom came out the house. "Got the cheese" she came over to us.

"Mom, Gregory tried to drown me and daddy doesn't even care"

"But did you die?" She smiled.

I dropped my jaw "really mom? You too?"

"Oh you beat me to it?" She looked up at him and put her hand up for him to five which he happily did.

I rolled my eyes and walked away. I went over to the girls and sat down.

"Your parents are so cute whenever they get together" T gushed.

I scrunched up my face. "They're disgusting"

"They're cute with their inside jokes and the way they act childishly unlike how he is around Micah"

"Good thing the little skank went to London" Ry sipped her iced tea.

"What if your parents get back together? That'll be so cute"

I shook my head. "I don't think so. Mom won't leave New York and dad won't leave here"

"They could change their minds"

"Doubt it" I laid back and fixed the towel over me. "Wake me when the foods done"

They continued their conversation but I was too tired to even attempt to pay attention.

** Sometime Later

"Foods ready"

I stretched out. "Finally. I'm starving" I got up and went to the grill.

Once I sat back down with my food I looked at the time. I guess Ace really doesn't want to see mom. The sun is about to set and he still hasn't made an appearance.

My aunt,  Ry's mother, came over and sat next to me. "Where's Christian?"

I shrugged. "I'll call him and find out" i stood up. "Would you hold this please?" I handed her my plate and went to my room.

I called Ace. He didn't answer the first time so I called again.

Ace- What Ahja?
- where are you ? You said you'd be here when the sun set"
Ace- watch the fireworks without me
-Don't you dare say that. We watch the fireworks together every year. It's our tradition
Ace- watch them with mom
- stop your childish grudge. This is not about mom this is about us. This has been OUR tradition for the last 17 years Christian, but fine if you want to break it and be a dick to your family then be my guest. Don't even bother.

With that I hung up. He's so infuriating and childish. Mom made her choice years ago to leave us and we've all forgave her even dad but no Christian is just too high and mighty.

Being upset made me lose my appetite so I just laid on the couch and watched some tv. No point in watching the fireworks since it won't be the same.

** 9:30 pm

"Wake up"

I rolled over and buried my face into the couch.

"fine" suddenly I was being picked up bridal style.

"Christian what are you doing?" I folded my arms as best as I could.

"Shut up and stop calling me Christian" he walked outside.

Admittedly it is weird calling him by his first name but he deserves it he messed up our tradition.

"It's pitch black out here. What are we doing?" I squint my eyes to try and see.

"Just sit here and don't move" he sat me down on one of the lawn chairs.

I still had my arms crossed.

He jogged to the middle of the yard and did something. I couldn't really tell but it looked like he was lighting things on fire. He started running back to me.

"Is he-" I was cut off when a firework shot in the air and made a loud bang.

He sat down next to me and watched as the rest lit up one after another. For some reason I started crying.

Ace turned around to look at me "like it- why are you crying?"

I shook my head as I wiped my face. He pulled me into a hug.

"this is the nicest thing you've ever done for me" I sniffled.

"It's my own pride that made me break our tradition and I'm sorry so I pulled a full strings" he yelled so he can be heard over the fireworks.

I hugged him back. "Thank you"

For the rest of the fireworks we just sat in silence besides him laughing when I jumped at the really loud ones.

I don't know how people can hate their twins me and Ace have a great relationship and we're always there for each other.
