Not Just a Rebound

Finally I've gotten a chance to unpack my one suitcase. Since I decided not to live in a dorm I didn't bring a lot. I shoved my underwear and bras into my drawer before moving to my shirts then bottoms. After I finished with my clothes I put my sneakers away.

"Ahj you hungry?" Mom asked poking her head in.

"Sure. What's for dinner?"

"Baked Ziti but RJ is on his way up so you better get some before he does"

I jumped up with my eyebrows creased. "Why is he here?" I asked myself but apparently loud enough for mother to hear.

She shrugged before leaving. I threw my yearbook, diploma case and other stuff on my bed before making my way down to the kitchen. When I got there RJ was already being served a plate.

"Hello to you too ugly" I bumped him with my shoulder before grabbing a plate.

"Hey baby girl"

Mom smiled because she's weird and thinks he says it as a term of endearment which I've explained numerous times that it isn't.

He was served so he moved so I can be as well. Once we were both served we went upstairs to my room and sat on the floor.

I chewed some of my food before opening my mouth to speak. "So what brings you over this fine afternoon?"

"The food"

I rolled my eyes. "Uhhuh"

"Nah Jess told me you're back so I had to come see my baby girl"

I swallowed the forkful. "Of course. So what's up?" Maybe I can press him about the Alexis thing.

He shrugged. "Nothing much. Same ol' same ol'" he really seems like nothing happened.

"Any new girl ? " I lowered my plate. "Or old one?"

He looked at me with his eyebrows creased together but amused. "What's up with you? Are you hitting on me, Ahja?"

I shook my head. "Noo I'm just asking"

We both went back to eating in silence. After we finished I took our plates down to the sink then made my way back to my room. He was now on my bed flipping through my yearbook.

"You had some fine ass classmates" he says when he notices me.

I sat on the edge of the bed. "Well too bad I probably won't see 99% of them ever again so I can't get their info"

"I'll just get their current numbers from the back of the book" he started flipping to the back and stopped when he got to my prom pictures which I put there till I got some frames..

I forgot those were back there. I reached from them but he moved them closer to him.

"Who's your date?" He moved his eyebrows in a suggestive manner.

I rolled my eyes. "That's my friend Sav. Dominic was busy and wouldn't have gotten there in time so Sav agreed to accompany me"

"Your 'friend' " I ignored his quotes. "sure Ahja"

I laid back. "Me and Sav are just friends. We'd talk at parties and stuff. Nothing big"

"Ya look really comfortable in this photo" he turned the one of me and Sav laughing towards me.

I snatched it out his hand and decided to flip the conversation. "Are you jealous Rahim?" I smirked.
