Depression isn't something one can deal with on their own. Those who suffer from it need the help of others, doesn't matter if it's friends or family. Having someone to talk to is the best way to snap out of it. I would know, I suffer from severe depression. If you need anyone, but have no one to go to, I will listen.

Leaning against the wall on the stage you listened to your Health teacher, Levi Ackerman, as he announced what the assembly today was about. "Not only was he a great teacher, he was a great husband to a beautiful women and an even better father. And it only took one moment to take all that away." Mr. Ackerman said as he stared out at all the students and teachers in the auditorium.

The person he was talking about was Farlan Church. Not only was he one of the Math teachers, he was also Levi's best friend and your foster father. Farlan was always there when you needed him, had been for years. You had only just started to see him as a real father only for him to be taken away. Taken away by the same thing Levi was going to have you talk about. "Now, as everyone knows, Farlan had taken it upon himself to take in a young student a few years ago. That student is [Y/n] [L/n], and he's here today to tell you all about what Farlan had dealt with most of his life." With that, Levi stepped back and motioned you towards the mic.

Walking up to the mic, you shoved your hands into your jacket pockets. "Before anything else... Farlan was someone I never expected to meet. At first I saw him as someone who took me in just to make himself look good among the school board. Only recently did I realize how wrong I was. He was always there when I needed someone, always made time for me even if he was busy with something else. He.. he was as much a father as anyone elses." Pausing, you took a quick breath before continuing.

"My father once said that, just because he smiled, didn't mean he was happy. Just because he laughed didn't mean he actually found it funny... everything was a show, all so we wouldn't question him. He was more concerned over us being okay then himself. He... he suffered from something known as depression. A mental disorder that so many people would rather think doesn't exist. And it killed him. All the pain and sadness he felt finally took its toll and instead of getting help, he ended it.

"Just because someone looks or acts okay, doesn't mean they really are... we all learned that the hard way." With that, you stepped off the stage and out of the auditorium. Your lack of emotion made everyone worry, but mostly Levi as well as your boyfriend, Connie. While Levi had to finish the assembly, Connie was able to sneak out and find you.

It didn't take long, he knew exactly where to find you. The roof. The one place you enjoyed most. As he opened the door to the roof, he saw you leaning against the railing, staring down. "[Y/n]?" Connie spoke, getting your attention. You answered with a simple 'hm?'. Sighing, Connie walked over to you, dragging you into a hug. "It's okay to cry, you know." Connie muttered just loud enough for you to hear.

"Why-why would I cry?" You sputtered, clearly holding back tears. "Because crying helps make everything feel better. Even... even if you're depressed too." Connie said, burying his face in the top of your head as he said the last part. You barely heard what he said, and it was what he said that made you cry. Connie just held you as you cried, not moving or speaking. He just stood there, holding you close to him as you cried.

When you stopped, you didn't feel much better. You were still sad, still felt like staring blankly at something and hoping no one bothered you. Connie noticed and huffed. Carefully, he brought you over to one of the benches on the roof and sitting down with you in his lap. "I'm not letting you go, not until I know you're happy." Sighing, you looked at him with a smile. "I am happy though." You muttered, causing Connie to roll his eyes. "No, you're not. And we're not leaving until I know you are. Now, how to make you happy... oh! I know!" Connie nearly shouted, smiling as he began to tell you about how much trouble he used to get in.

You couldn't help but eventually start smiling, actually smiling, as well as laughing slightly at some of the stupid things Connie had done. Unknown to both of you, Levi had come to search for you, only to smile himself as he left the two of you alone.
