Yeah... not sure how to explain this one..

It was, in all honesty, a weird sight for most of the other students. Seeing you and Jean walking down the halls hand in hand was something none of them expected. You were used to feeling their stares though and hearing what they say. It was always the same. Others saying it would never last all because you couldn't see while Jean couldn't hear.

But, even with your disabilities you and Jean could communicate well especially since you and him had known each other before the incident that caused them. If anyone bothered to ask, they'd know that at the time you and him had been dating then as well and that was two years ago in your last year of High School. Even now you could still remember the incident.

It was a nice fall morning and your Science teacher thought it would be great to have class outside. "Alright class! Since it's Friday and nice out we're going to do something different and maybe childish!" The teacher, Mrs. Brown said. She was a nice teacher, and never did anything to harm the students. Kneeling down, she opened the box and pulled out a 2 liter bottle, baking soda, a bottle of water, vinegar and dish soup. "We're going to see how long it takes for this bottle to take off!" She said.

"This might not be a good idea." You muttered, knowing full well what those things could be used for. While Jean heard you, the teacher didn't and just kept going on about what each thing would be used for and do. When Mrs.Brown put the baking soda in she quickly put on the cap and placed it on a small stand upside down. It didn't take long for the cap to pop off, sending the bottle flying.

In the direction you and Jean were standing. You froze, while Jean pushed you out of the way, getting hit hard in the head with the bottle while some of the goo got in your eyes as the bottles direction changed. You let out a low scream from the pain in your eyes. "Jean, [Y/n]!" You heard your teacher yell and the sound of footsteps running your way. "I want one of you to go get the principle while the rest of you stay here and watch Jean, I'm taking [Y/n] to clean out his eyes!" She yelled as she quickly led you back into the building and to the science room where there was a kit.

She dragged you over to the sink where she quickly turned on the faucet before nearly forcing your head under the spray of water to get as much of the goo out as best she could before she used the drops. As she was doing so you could hear a few people come running into the room and the next thing you knew, you were being wheeled somewhere.

It had been a few days since the incident and you were still in the hospital, but not because you weren't allowed home. You just refused to leave until Jean woke up. You had lost your sight from the goo getting in your eyes and had been told there was a low chance it would ever come back but you didn't care. You were more worried about Jean. One of your classmates had come by and said that the bottle knocked him out but he hit his hard on a rather large rock when he fell.

So, for the last two days you'd been sitting by his bed waiting for him to wake up. Tracing your hand up the bed, you grabbed his hand. "I should've said something." You muttered to yourself. "What kind of boyfriend am I to let you get hurt?" Sighing, you leaned back in the chair you were in with your cane across your lap. Closing your eyes out of habit you could only hope nothing bad happened when you heard a groan come from your left, where Jean was laying.

"Jean?!" You screeched, feeling his grip tighten and hearing the sheets shift. "[Y/n]?" Jean said, his voice scratchy. "Yeah, Jean?" You said, hopefully looking at his eyes. Everything was quiet for a moment before you spoke again. "Jean...?" "I can't hear you..." Jean said. Your heart dropped and you quickly let go of his hand and gripping your cane as a nurse walked in before quickly rushing out and calling for a doctor.

The doctor said it wasn't surprising Jean lost his hearing considering what happened. Jean wasn't very happy when he was given a pad of paper explaining this to him and he had actually yelled for them to do something. You just sat there listening while thinking about what would happen next. You were now blind and Jean was deaf. Your head shot up though and looked in the direction of the doctor when he said, "With how things are, it would most likely be best if you both broke up." Tearing up, you quickly stood and left, hearing Jean call after you. But before leaving the hospital you asked one of the nurses to pass a message onto Jean when the doctor left his room.

You told her to tell him that no matter how long it took, you were going to find a way to still be able to talk to him.

Now, two years later you and Jean were closer then ever. While he'd speak to you, you'd respond with sign language. Though it took you longer then you had hoped you still easily learned it. The person who helped was patient with you, and told you what each letter and phrase was as he moved your hands or fingers to the way they needed.

"Hey, [Y/n]! Stairs." Jean said as he stopped, tugging your hand. Nodding you couldn't help but smile up at him. Jean just ruffled your hair, something he did whenever he smiled towards you now. "You know, they still think we can't speak to each other." You signed, getting a snort from Jean. "They're just jealous." "Of?" "Of how we've lasted so long even with our disabilities!" He said loudly, causing you to chuckle. Jean always seemed to have an answer for most things now. He then went quiet as he walked slowly up the stairs with you. Once you heard the squeak of the door and the small gust of wind your smile grew as you let go of Jean's hand to go through the door to the roof before him.

Counting your steps with your cane in front of you, you stopped when you reached twenty and promptly sat down, cane in front of you and hands out as you waited for Jean to hand you your lunch. "Still say he's whipped." You heard Eren snicker from beside you, followed by an "Ow! You're getting better..." as you whacked him upside the head. "Well you DO always sit right next to him." Marco said from your other side. It was an unspoken group rule that you'd sit between the two while Jean would sit in front of you. Jean placed your lunch in your lap and you nodded to him as you opened it and pulled out a sandwich, handing it to Marco.

"Turkey and cheese." Marco said as he handed it back. "Thank you." You replied, taking a bite. "Why do you ask Marco and not Jean or me?" Eren whined. "Because, Eren, last time you told me it was ham all so I'd give it to you and knowing Jean he'd take a bite before giving it back." You replied getting a laugh from Marco. "It's true, Jean would!" Marco laughed. "Would not." Jean muttered. Over the two years Jean had learned to read lips but he preferred sign language when talking with you.

The rest of lunch went by with you being quiet and listening to the others talk. When the bell rang Jean helped you up and to class. "I'll meet you here after, alright? Like always. Be safe, I still don't trust the gym teachers." Jean said as he dropped you off at the gym. Smiling up at him you responded with, "They haven't done anything yet to bother me." Jean just huffed before giving you a quick kiss and taking off to his class.

Lets just say, you walked into the gym with your face bright red. The few students who saw couldn't help but smile and 'aww' at you.
