We need a Skyrim AU. This is part 1 of 2.
Raven Rock, the place you've called home since you were born. Which wasn't a surprise considering all of Raven Rock was Dunmer. It was rare for outlanders to come by as most of the island of Solstheim was covered in ashe. Though, you remembered how last year an Altmer named Erwin had come by. He had been searching for information on Miraak. It was then, only a few weeks later, did you find out why. Miraak, the very first Dragonborn, was planning to come back and take over what he saw as his. In order to do so, he had sent followers to kill Erwin, who also happened to be Dragonborn. Though it was lucky that happened, some people were afraid of not only Erwin, but his whole crew. But you weren't, you found comfort in hearing about their adventures. Heck, you had fallen for the tall Altmer. Though you never admitted it, seeing as he left a day after saving Solstheim.
You didn't hold it against him, after all he was most likely needed back on Skyrim. The day he left he had actually searched for you, all to say he was leaving and to ask you to hold onto something for him until he came back. Before he left he had given you a necklace. A bone hawk necklace. You could clearly remember that day.
It was a normal morning, you had just gotten down to the docks for work when you saw Erwin walking towards you. Smiling, you waved at him. "Hey, Erwin. What're you doing up so early?" You asked, looking up at him. He just smiled down at you. "Well, I'm actually about to head off but I wanted to see you before I did." He replied, shoving one of his hands into the pocket of his robes. You raised a questioning eyebrow at him only to give him a confused look when he held out a necklace with black feathers and what looked like a hawk skull towards you. "What's this?" You questioned as you took the necklace, noticing a light red shine to it. "It's a bone hawk amulet I stole from a vampire lord. It even has a strong resist fire enchant, though I'm sure you wouldn't need it." He chuckled. "I doubt you stole this from a vampire lord... but why are you giving it to me?" "Well, I figured you could hold onto it for me until I come back. It's important to me, after all." He smiled, taking the amulet and placing it around your neck. You couldn't help but smile up at him at the fact he was giving something important to you.
With that, you watched until the boat was completely out of sight before getting back to work.
When he left, you didn't expect him to be gone for so long. It only took a month for you to start worrying, four before you started to be sad all the time and six when you gave up on him ever coming back. Its been little over a year since then, and even though you gave up on him ever coming back you still wore the amulet he gave you. Your friends often told you it was because you hadn't actually given up on him coming back.
"Today's hotter then usual." You said as you and your friend, [F/n], carried a large crate off a ship. "Yeah, it's been getting hotter every day. Some of the folks think that Red Mountain is getting close to erupting again." They replied. You snorted, shaking your head. "When did it ever stop? Just look at all the smoke!" You said, getting a laugh from [F/n]. It was quiet for a moment between the two of you as you both sat down the crate at the top of the stairs. "Hey, Vanzura and I are going to the beach. Wanna come?" [F/n] asked, nudging your shoulder. "You and Vanzura should just make it official already, you two never leave the other alone. But yeah, I'll come." You replied.
Vanzura's a Khajiit [F/n] had been found bound and gagged inside a crate a few months ago. After questioning it had been found out she wasn't even sure what she was doing in the crate, only that her families caravan had been attacked and she'd been taken. Ever since her and [F/n] had been close and most of Raven Rock figured they were already together.
[F/n] grabbed your hand, dragging you to the beach with him/her. Vanzura was already there by the time you both arrived, sitting on a fallen log and drawing in the ash. "Van!" [F/n] called, getting the Khajiit's attention. Vanzura looked up, waving with a smile. Though you weren't close with her, she still considered you a friend. "Khajiit sees [F/n] has dragged [Y/n] with him today." Vanzura said, her natural way of speaking still with her. "Yep!" [F/n] said before whispering something. With how Vanzura's smile widened you could tell she heard it, though you didn't which annoyed you. You'd never been one for secrets. "Let's go swimming, yes?" Vanzura said, noticing the annoyed look your face. Before you could say anything, Vanzura dragged you into the water, [F/n] following.
In the end, you stayed on the beach with Vanzura until the sun started to set. [F/n] had left a few hours ago, saying he/she had something to do. You were going to leave as well, but Vanzura refused to let you. You still had fun and even learned a few things. One of which being that Vanzura could speak normally but that [F/n] liked it more when she spoke like a Khajiit. Now though, you were headed home. You didn't live far from the beach, so the walk was short. The whole day had been tiring and you just wanted to go to bed, but a tall blonde Altmer was sitting in your living room reading one of your books.
Blinking, you stared at the elf before realizing who he was. "Erwin?" You squeaked, not actually sure it was him. Erwin looked up from the book, a smile on his face. "Hey, [Y/n]. Long time no see." Erwin said. "I didn't think you were coming back." You whispered, staring at him. Erwin frowned before setting the book on the stand and getting up, walking over and wrapping you in a hug. "I'm sorry. I had gotten busy until recently." You just wrapped your arms around Erwin, unsure of what to say. Erwin carefully picked you up, carrying you to your bed and laying down with you.
You and him just laid there in silence, until Erwin spoke. "You kept the amulet, I see." You choked out a laugh, not expecting him to say that. "Yeah, you said it was important to you." You responded. Erwin chuckled before sitting up. You sat up as well and watched as he pulled another amulet from his robe pocket, similar to the one he gave you but with a light blue glow. "Frost enchant?" You mumbled. Erwin nodded, placing the amulet around his own neck. "This is why it's important. I had taken two from the vampire lord and couldn't remember which house I left this one in." Erwin said before making you lay down with him again.
"Why the frost enchant?" You questioned. "Simple. You're the fire to my ice." He muttered, yawning after. "Is this your way of asking me out?" When you didn't get a response you looked, to see his eyes closed. Smiling, you snuggled into Erwin's body and closing your eyes. "I guess so." You whispered, falling asleep yourself.
The next morning, you woke up to find Erwin gone. Afraid he left, you quickly got up and went upstairs to find him sitting in the chair, reading. "Good morning." He said as you sat down on the stool at your table. "About last night..." You paused, looking at Erwin. "What about it?" He questioned, looking at you. "Where you asking me out?" "I was asking you to marry me."
It only took a second for your face to turn a darker color as a blush made its way up your neck. You didn't expect anything like that from Erwin, not with what you've heard about most Altmer in Skyrim. No, you didn't believe him to be like the others but you also didn't expect him to actually care about someone like you. He seemed to notice as he said, "I don't care that you're a Dunmer. After all, Levi's one too and he's one of my many housecarls. If I didn't like Dunmer then I'd have him stay at home all the time." You couldn't help but chuckle. You remembered Levi and how he hated you until he realized he was taller then you by an inch. It felt as if he did everything he could to have you standing next to him all so he could feel a little taller.
"Where would I live? I've never left Raven Rock, let alone Solstheim.." You muttered. "Hm... We could go to Skyrim and see how you like it and if you don't we can come back here." Erwin suggested. You thought about it for a moment before looking at him, smiling. "Okay." You said. Erwin smiled as well before reaching over and pulling you into his lap.
With that, you both stayed inside that day, catching up and getting things ready for the trip.
