She could feel her mother's disapproving gaze and father's angered look. She felt hopeless. Her brother watched with a frown plastered on his face.
"You have to eat," he told her. She shook her head and offered him an almost real smile. He sighed.
"IT'S NOT HEALTHY!" Her father shouted. He feared she would be that type of girl, trying to fit in society. Their generation's society was cruel. If you weren't popular and pretty, you're out.
"Mariah," her mother pleaded. "Please eat." She shook her head as her mother took a sip of her tea.
