He wanted to save her—God, he loved her too much. He was so into her that he didn't think about the possibilities of rejection.
He hated that word; rejection.
"I–I love you," he choked on his own words. He was always confident. It was both a blessing and a curse. She looked at him with a blank expression, something he got used to.
"Tamaki," she whispered, looking at him with her brown eyes, "I'm sorry."
He blinked.
Where has he gone wrong? He protected her. He helped her overcome Ranka's sudden death.
Where did he go wrong?
"W–what?" He stammered. He saw Hikaru walk in and interlace his fingers with her soft, delicate ones.
"Oh," he whispered emotionless, "I see."
And he ran.
