End of November

Dove opened her eyes weakly. It was hideously bright in the room she was in. As soon as her eyes were properly adjusted, she finally saw the room perfectly. It was a hospital room.

Dove, not wanting to let her parents pay for the bill, stood up. Unfortunately, wincing in pain. She hugged her stomach to discover a scar. A huge one that ran across her belly. The door opened and Dove looked up.

"You're finally awake! Miss Dove, you're finally awake!" the nurse shouted in joy.

Dove only smiled back and watched the nurse fumble about, picking up the telephone to call in someone from the counter, it sounded like.

"Stay here, okay sweety? I need to get you some food to eat." she smiled, hurrying outside.

Dove looked around and saw a clipboard on her table. She picked it up and it read:

Patient C13-15'
Doctor's Note: Patient has been showing signs of common allergy to cinnamon. Although given proper medication to minimise effects of allergy, it has been shown that she has taken none. She received surgery due to blockage in her digestive tract. She has been in a comatose starting 06-25-15.

She dropped it after reading the last sentence. Comatose? She looked around for a calendar to see how long it has been and finally saw a desk calendar on the other side of the room. She winced while walking there and started to bawl when she saw the encircled date.

November 23.

Dove cried while covering her face onto the desk. She had been missing out on school. Honestly, she didn't need her parents to worry anymore. She needed to catch up. She was honestly smart, she just needed some help from a classmate.

She felt her hair brush up to her waist. It was extremely long, but it was alright. She just needed to curl the ends so that it would shorten up a bit. She saw the nurse come in with a tray of food and a drink. The nurse immediately took it to her once she saw her sitting on the chair.

"How did you get to the other side of the room?" the nurse asked.

"Well, I needed to know what day it was today."

"It's November 30, if you need to know." she said.

That's even worse. There's probably no school by this time. It was probably already Christmas break. How could she catch up now? She might just need to find Mike and ask him to help her out.

"You should eat up, alright? You're parents are here to pick you up in 30 minutes. Also, drink this after eating." the nurse said, leaving a pill beside her drink.

Dove nodded and ate her food diligently. She chewed the somehow edible cafeteria-like food and chugged down the drink, along with the pill of course. She just waited on the chair, not wanting to go back to her bed.

Soon, she heard knocks on the door. It was proceeded by a strong slamming of the door and furious footsteps from her mother.

Slap!

Dove held her face in pain as she looked at her mom. Of course mom would be like this. They were already so troubled in the finance, she probably had a hard time with the money.

"How.. how could you! If I didn't remarry, I wouldn't have gotten the money for you and your stupid surgery!"

Dove just looked down in shame. She felt so useless in their house. She was honestly glad that her mom was able to remarry. She needed happiness too.

"Since you're 16 now, you can move out of the house too!" she shouted.

She only looked down and let the tears from her eyes fall down.

"So you're crying now? I'm at fault here? Augh! You're so disgusting!" her mother shouted.

Dove muffled her cries and forced them into inaudible whimpers. She choked once in a while, but she just listened to her mother rant about how useless she was. How she just took up space in their house.

Her mother had so many bags with her, only to say that these are Dove's clothes. She dropped them to her and left the room. It was only a paper bag and her school backpack. She opened them and saw her phone. It was luckily in a 100% battery condition. She also found the charger.

Dove hung her head. She had to leave home. She wasn't wanted, so why would she go back? Maybe her mom wanted to have a new life. She didn't want to destroy that dream. She dragged herself to the desk which had the clipboard and wrote on it.

"I'll never take my medications.. I'm sorry."

She quickly changed into her clothes inside the bag and folded the hospital gown, setting it on top of the bed. Even though her legs were a bit weak, she needed to fight fire with fire. She decided that walking out the door was too risky, so she went outside the window. Luckily, she was only on the third floor.

Dove stepped unto the small side that the hospital had. There was an emergency ladder at least 3 windows away. She sidled to it, uncomfortable about the height distance between her and the ground. At last, she reached the ladder and climbed down, biting onto the paper bag she had.

Finally, she set on the ground and rested her head. She opened her bag to see some money in her wallet. Just enough for the train. She sighed in relief and decided to go to Iris City, the city nearby. She took out her phone and texted the person she cared for the most.

"I'm sorry, Dregan."
