Chapter 13

My chip buzzes and by the way Stefan looks at me, I can tell that he felt it too.

"Come on. We're supposed to go the training room." He says, his face a grim expression and his mouth pressed tightly into a straight line. I know he's been here much longer than me so I ask him:

"Steff, what's so bad about the training room? You look like you ate a lemon."

"I'm going to have to train with you. I'm warning you now, you are going to get hurt but their training is like... A way of making you work on your powers and they pit you against your partner. They're going to force us to fight until we're so battered and bruised that one of us collapses. They give you everything, like food, and air, clothes and water. But they can take it all away if you don't do what they want. It's basically like we're dolls in their dollhouse. I'm so sorry if I hurt you."

My stomach churns at the grave expression on his face.

After a long walk in complete silence, we get to two clear tubes. I assume they're our entrance into wherever it is that we're supposed to fight. The robotic voice sounds through the speaker again.

"both of you. Enter through the tube on the right. Your opponent is already in there."

Wait... What?

I send a confused glance at Stefan but he's looking at me with the exact same expression. Silently he grabs my hand before do as we're told and we walk through the tube, into the darkness.

A/N

Hey guys, I know this chapter is short but I'm also in the process of updating my other story and editing a completed novel that I wrote, plus I have been incredibly busy this week.

I have tests in school and three piano exams coming up, so I really haven't had much time for writing... Sorry :(
