The next morning I woke up to the sound of Ivan and Boris talking. They were speaking in Russian so I couldn't understand a word of it but they sounded serious.
I opened my eyes and looked over at the two. Brois noticed me and stopped mid sentence. Ivan turned around and gave me a smile.
" Good morning Anna." He greeted.
" Good morning, what were you two talking about just now?" I asked a little curious. With these two it's better to just get to the point.
" Nothing important." Boris said flatly, his poker face giving me no hints whatsoever.
" Oh." I replied as I felt a little awkward.
" Anna, do you want to go eat breakfast?" Ivan asked as he took about three pills all at once and downed a glass of water that was sitting on a nightstand next to his bed.
" Sure but can you even walk?" I asked a little worried about him. It was clear from yesterday that he was in a lot of pain.
" It's fine, I can walk." He reassured with a grin.
" Are you sure? We can always have a nurse bring it." I suggested not convinced at all. Just because he can walk doesn't mean he should,
" Men get their own food." He said as he stood up and took a few steps this way. He looked like he was trying very hard to look normal. The way his body shook slightly after every inch he moved made me want to help him even more.
Boris let out a sigh as Ivan continued to fail at convincing anyone he was fine.
" Just sit down Ivan, I have your food right here." Nikolai laughed as he came into our hospital room. He had three trays of food balancing on his hands and arms. He kinda reminded me of the servers at my dads old restaurant. I wonder if he ever held a normal job like the rest of us. Did he ever wait on tables as a teen? For some reason I feel like Nikolai might of.
" NIKOLAI!" I squealed as my face lit up. I haven't seen him since that night at the club.
" Good morning Anna. I hope you're feeling better." He greeted with a smile, setting a tray on my lap table thing.
" Much better now." I answered as I observed the food.
It was eggs and toast with a side of fruit. He then gave Ivan and Boris their food.
" Since you're here, does that mean The boss is here?" Boris asked as his shaky hand picked up his fork.
" Da, he is filling out Anna's papers as we speak." Nikolai informed, his arms were crossed across his chest and he gave a quick nod." You two look like twins now." Nikolai teased as his eyes flashed over to Ivan and I.
" I was thinking the same thing." Ivan agreed as he looked at my face.
We both had broke noses but that was the only resemblance. I just awkwardly chuckled and took a bite of my toast.
" Nikolai." Boris called to Nikolai's surprise.
He whispered something to him then Nikolai gave him another nod.
I had a hunch these guys were hiding something from me but I couldn't understand what. What was so secret that they couldn't tell me? I just continued to eat my food, knowing it was pointless to pry.
Shortly after that Dimitri came in and gave me clean clothes to dress into. I was excited to change out of my hospital gown. I got changed quickly and Dimitri brought me down to the main floor of the hospital. We walked to his car which was waiting right out front for us. We got in and the driver took off down the street.
