Captive

A Cold

It was late in the morning and Dimitri was suffering from a cold. I quickly got out of bed and fast walked over to the bathroom. I searched the medicine cabinet for any medicine that could help him. Sadly all he had was stuff like toothpaste, floss, Cologne etc.

I let out a sigh and snuck a glance at him. He was still sleeping so I guess that was good. When you're sick, you need sleep. I quickly got dressed and headed down the hall to Nikolai's room.

He said if I needed anything I could go to his room. I trusted him more than any other friend of Dimitri's so he was my best shot at getting help.

I took in a deep breath before knocking. I just know Boris will be mad if he finds out Dimitri has caught a cold. I just hope Nikolai can help me clear this all up.

" Anna?" Asked Nikolai from behind me.

" Oh, Nikolai." I said as I turned to greet him." I need some help." I stated, looking down at the floor feeling guilty as hell.

This was so embarrassing, everyone told me he would get a cold and look what happened. I shouldn't have taken his coat. He is the boss of a Mafia, he has responsibilities. I on the other hand have no real jobs to do. I should be the one with a cold.

" What's wrong Anna? The Boss hasn't come down from his room all morning." Nikolai asked as he looked to me for answers.

" I think Dimitri might be sick. We need to get him medicine." I said as I let out a sigh.

" Sick, hmmmm. Well that's a first." Nikolai said as he scratched his scruff on his face in thought.

" It's all my fault he is sick." I admitted as I leaned against the wall and rubbed my temples.

" It's not your fault Anna, he is just reckless. He is just like a child, biting off more than he can chew. I have known him since he was born. He may look refined and responsible but old habits die hard." He reassured, crossing his arms across his chest.

" Well I think we have some medicine down in the kitchen. I will see what I can get. We need him to rest, he will try to work but stop him at all costs. I need you to make sure he doesn't get up and work." Nikolai said as he waved me off.

" Thanks, I won't let you or him down." I promised before turning to run back to our room.

I made it back to see he was still sleeping. He must be really tired. I walked up to him I put my hand out to check his fever before the sound of someone in the doorway caught my attention.

" So the Boss is sick, how tragic." Snickered a sarcastic Brody.

" Yes he is, now did you come here to help or just point out the obvious?" I snapped as I felt Dimitri's head. It was still hot.

" That's a sharp tongue you have there Anna. Watch out, your knight in shining armor is ill in bed." Brody warned as he shot me a grin.

" Nikolai will be here any minute so if I were you I wouldn't try anything you would regret." I threatened, walking past him and into the bathroom.

I wet a washcloth with cold water then walked it over to Dimitri. Brody was quiet and within a few minutes Nikolai came in carrying a bottle of questionable medicine.

" I found an old family remedy." Nikolai said as he handed me a small glass bottle. He noticed Brody in the room and shot him a threatening glance." Checking on your brother or his fiancé?"

" Both." Brody said with a grin.

" Wait BROTHER?!" I asked as I thought maybe I heard wrong.

" You didn't know?" Nikolai asked as he hit his forehead.
