Marla paced back and forth in her apartment. The newly bought plush rug was already showing signs of being worn down, and as she was wearing her black killer high heels on it, it only made the matter worse. Seething in anger she threw things around her haphazardly as she swore loudly. A glass bowl died with a loud crash in the corner of the room, and a few of her least favorite cd's came to an end quite dramatically against the opposite wall.

Damn that Cody Warner. Just damn him!

Why couldn't he just give it up?

Why was he so damn stubborn? Couldn't he see that they were meant for each other?

Obviously the bastard did not know what was best for him.

Two years ago she had really blown it, like major blown it, she knew that.  She really did, okay.

She gnawed her teeth in frustration over that fact.

But really, it  was Cody's fault all together. Surely he had to have been aware of, that  drooling like a bloody philanderer over another woman, AND in public too, was definitely a hard limit in a relationship. Especially with her, Marla Brady.

Yeah, it was Cody's fault. He was the one to blame for this, not her.

She was immaculate. Perfect.

Not over the top, but just a little satisfied with that conclusion she slumped, non too ladylike, down on the bed. She would get him back.  Sure she was.

Cody was hers. She had been the first to discover his potential. And she was sure as hell going to claim her stake.

During the week that had passed, Laura had spoken to her boss about the upcoming birthday party for Mick, and everything seemed to be okay with him. They were allowed to have the party down at the Pint.

She got the impression that Diane and Mick had no intention on holding back on anything regarding this event, as Diane one day had confided in her that she indeed wanted to clog the mouths of all the old hags in town, once and for all.

She wanted to show them who the Queen Bee was.  To make a statement.

The days up until the party had passed by painfully slow, almost crept by, and her tries to avoid Cody had been in vain as he almost every day had been spending time with her sons.

In their house. AND out in the garage.

His intense and smoldering gazes made her knees go weak and her inside to warm up, and she was so utterly confused. Why did he affect her so much? She felt so ashamed. He was just a kid, wasn't he?

She really had to pull herself together. Having thoughts like that would surely leave a place open for her at the mental institution.
