It was dark outside.

Maxton and I were riding our horses by the beach.

We had gone who knows how far from the palace.

But we didn't care.

We were happy

Until thunder rumbled and my horse went wild.

"Aspen!" he yelled!

"Max! Help me Max!"

Max's horse raced after mine, but it was too late.

I was thrown off the horse.

Without missing a beat, Max jumped off his horse.

"Aspen, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Let's go find shelter. It looks like there's a storm coming."

So we went, looking aimlessly, unaware of where we were, and when we would get home.

We finally found a deserted farmhouse to take shelter in.

A storm was raging outside.

The sky was purple.

On the beach, in the midst of the storm, an octopus was waving its tentacles like it was mad.

Lightning and thunder were taking over the sky.

We were fine for an hour or two, but then the farmhouse caught on fire.

And the first thing engulfed in flames was the door.

Max smashed a window open.

"Aspen, quick! Climb through!" yelled Max.

I gritted my teeth when the broken glass scratched me as I went through the window.

I managed to clamber through the window when suddenly, Max screamed.

A part of the roof fell on his legs.

"Max! Max, are you okay?"

"Go, Aspen. get help!"

So I ran till I came to a village.

I breathlessly told a villager what happened.

We ran to the farmhouse, but it was too late.

Max was gone.

All that was left of him was a pile of ashes.

Now, I finally realize the truth.

The storm was caused by the seawitch.

First, she killed my brother.

Then, she tried to kill me.
