Weekend Distractions

I yawn sleepily as I open my tired eyes slowly. Last night was rough, but Asher of course fixed it. As always. Somehow he's always there at all the right times to swoop me out of despair and bring me back into the light.
Rain pitter patters on the rooftop and the glassy window. I'm against Asher's chest, closer than ever. Yet I wish I could be closer.
Our hands are interlocked, and his scent is amazing. His arm is wrapped around my torso tightly, securing me to him. I nuzzle my nose into his arm.
He moans, signaling that he's awake. "Morning Beautiful." He greets happily. I turn my head to see his gorgeous and perfect face. He looks adorable and sleepy with his dark messy hair. I run my fingers through this hair, combing it, and kiss his gently on the cheek, making him smirk. "I know I'm hot. You can stop thinking about it." Asher whispers cockily. "Not as hot as me." I reply, testing what he'll say. "I guess I'm rubbing off on you."
"You are not."
"Are too."
Our childishness causes us to erupt in laughter. Laughter over nothing and everything all at once. Laughter over our moments.
"How are you feeling?" He grunts starting to fully wake up. He looks at me with eyes full of concern. He's so sweet, worrying about me. "I'm okay. You?" I answer simply, telling the full truth. "As long as you're happy, I'm happy." Asher tells me, which makes me smile brightly. "Softie." I tease. "Hey!" He protests, and before I know it, my sides are being tickled.
When he finally stops, I shoot him a death glare that only makes him smile. I begin to think of my dad and how I'm going to have to face him. My face creases in worry, until Asher cups my cheek.
"Hey. You just need a distraction, and I'll give you one today. We're going to have fun." He reassures me. I race my eyebrows at him, almost laughing. Gosh my dirty mind. "You know what I mean." He rolls his eyes when he gets my joke. "I'm rubbing off on you." I say to him as I climb out of bed.
He rolls out after me. "What should I wear?" I ask him, referring to where we would be going or what we'd be doing. "Dress casual." Asher tells me, and I just shrug. I shoo him away as I go into the bathroom to shower.
I shower quickly, excited for the day ahead. I use my special sleek strawberry conditioner and my Caress scented body wash. I wash my oily face, the old makeup that I've started wearing, washing away.
When Asher noticed that I had started wearing makeup a bit ago, he seemed upset. After my makeup running from tears yesterday, I realize that I shouldn't of ever started. I'm never wearing makeup again.
I step out of the warm shower, turning of the pounding water. I wrap a fluffy white towel around me as I enter my room.
I quickly change into my Boyfriend jeans and a flowy white blouse. I pair it with my all white Converse.
I blow dry my hair quickly and throw it up in a ballerina bun. I decide to wear my pretty black glasses today out of laziness, and they frame my face perfectly. I never liked my glasses until Asher came along.
After brushing my teeth and putting on some of my favorite perfume, I walk down the stairs to see him waiting.
Asher's waiting for me, but he's also in the same room as my dad. My heart races immediately, and I begin to pant. My clutch containing my money and phone drops out of my hand in anxiety.
This makes my presence known and they both look up. I quickly pick it up, and look away from my dad. I stare directly into Asher's eyes, giving him a faint smile.
Asher wears a white tee shirt, grayish jeans, and his usual black converse. His appearance seems a bit more clean cut then usual, but I spot one of his leather jackets- the one with sweatshirt sleeves. He's going to wear it and it will rough up his look, make him look like he always does.
I walk up to him, completely ignoring my dad.
"Ready to go wherever we are going?" I suggest, smiling. He nods, shooting an angry glare in the direction of my terrible father.
We head out the door together without another word and towards his red Mustang. I can't help but stop as we pass my dad's precious car. "Sarah, what are you doing?" Asher asks curiously. I walk towards the garage and find a rusty, but sharp, knife.
Asher watches me intently as I jab the knife into each of my dad's tires. I angrily throw the knife on the driveway as I march away and into Asher's car.
"I'm impressed." He finally says once we begin to drive away together. "He deserved it." I spit angrily. "You look gorgeous. I like it when you wear your glasses." Asher smiles at me. His smile is all it takes to wash away my anger, the pit in my stomach vanishing. "Thanks." I smile happily, kissing his cheek. He's so sweet sometimes,
We pull up in front of the town Zoo. I smile in delight as we park. I glance at the time for the first moment all morning, to see its only nine. "But it opens at ten." I tell him in confusion. He nods, showing me that he already knew that.
He gets out of the car and I follow behind him. "Where are we going?" I ask as he takes hold of my hand and leads me away from the zoo's entrance. "You'll see." He grins happily.
We make our way through the woods on the side of the zoo parking lot. The mass of trees blocks any way of seeing what's far ahead. Asher keeps me close to him, as I follow along.
We get through the area to come to a small lake. It's pretty, the sun's reflection glistening in the water. The blue lake has me mesmerized as I lean into Asher's shoulder. "It's beautiful." I gasp, speaking just loud enough for him to hear me. "Not as beautiful as you." Asher responds flirtatiously, kissing the top of my head. I blush wildly at the sweet comment.
"Come on..." Asher mutters, pulling me down the lake side path. We make our way to a canoe with oars inside of it. He lifts me up and puts me inside of the small boat, and climbs in after me.
"So do you want to know the day's plans?" Asher smirks at me as my eyes widen in anticipation. I nod quickly, listening with intent. "Well too bad, surprises await you." He teases, only making me groan.
With that, he paddles us out into the middle of the lake. The morning sun hits us, it's rays cradling our canoe. A breeze passes by, sending tiny ripples through the clear water.
Asher stops and looks into my eyes. The oceans I see in his are amazing, blue orbs full of wonder. He leans forward and caresses my left cheek. I lean closer to him and we kiss.
Oh, the Sparks when we kiss are amazing. I run my fingers through his soft hair. It all feels so right and the moment is always so perfect. Every kiss is different and special and unique in its own way. I love our special little kisses.
We both pull back for air, and I smile happily. "You are wonderful, you know that right?" Asher mutters against my lips. "You're not so bad yourself." I mumble back, before pulling his head back into mine. We kiss for a little longer, caught in the beautiful moment. "You sure are a distraction from the real world." I tell him after the kiss is over. He smiles at me, seeming proud.
I lean back into my seat, as does he. The movement makes water ripple beneath us, causing me to giggle slightly. "You're the best thing to ever happen to me." Asher smiles at me, looking in my eyes. I begin to blush before replying with, "I think that applies to more how I feel about you. If you weren't here, I'd probably be crying in my room over my dad right now, I'd still be with Adam, and I'd be too scared to live life."
He smirks at me. I love it when we speak little sweet nothings, because those nothings are everything. He is everything to me.
We are just two sappy people aren't we? If I had saw this from afar, not being apart of it, I'd probably be gagging. But it's nice being apart of all of it. I used to think love was gross and sappy talks were unrealistic. My kisses with Adam were alright, nothing too love sick puppy like. Now I know what real kisses and affection are.
We continue to talk and flirt on the lake for a little longer until he glances at his watch. Seeing the time, he paddles back to shore. "That was absolutely wonderful. Thank you." I whisper in his ear before kissing him on the cheek.
I let my lips linger before pulling away. He seems star stuck and dazed, and it takes me tugging his hand for him to snap out of it.
We walk back to the zoo entrance. He has an arm slung over my shoulder, and my head leans on his toned chest. I can feel his muscles through his shirt as my arm is around his waist.
He pays for both us, and even though I object, he insists. He even buys us the full pass tickets that gets us on all of the kiddie rides for free. He is so lame and adorable at the same time.
He tugs me along as we enter the zoo. The first thing I see are two brown bears roaming in a cage. "Poor creatures, all tucked away." I say aloud. "It's okay, every animal here is a rescue. This is a good zoo, where all animals were injured somehow so the people came and rescued them. Then they put them here to be taken care of." Asher explains to me, looking down at me. I smile brightly at the news.
I hate the idea of animals being caged for no reason, their freedom pried from them.
But I'm also a hypocrite because I love zoos and stuff where I can see the cute animals!
We go through the indoor butterfly exhibit next. It's full of pretty bushes and trees, butterflies, and the room is gorgeous. It has flowers and a cobblestone path through out the room. The temperature has to be 85 degrees F or so, it's really warm, but I don't mind. As Asher and I walk around, a pretty blue butterfly lands on my nose. I freeze, and Asher knows what I want him to do.
I stay as still as I can and look at my nose as he snaps a photo with his phone. I smile at the fragile creature as it flies away prettily. "That was amazing!" I squeal, turning to Asher, who smiling at me. He nods in agreement, as I hold his arm, jumping up and down in excitement.
Leaving the butterfly exhibit, we head to check out the Big Cats area.
We continue to stroll around to beautiful zoo for most of the day, we flirt and laugh and kiss. And we enjoy each other's presence.
And that's all that matters.
Not to mention the selfies we took. We have selfies of him smiling while I kiss his cheek and vice versa. There are pictures of us laughing and kissing and smiling and sticking our tongues out and just looking at each other. The camera manages to capture our happiness. It makes me wonder if he's ever really taken so many pictures with a girl before.
We find a little kid insect themed carousel near the insect exhibit of the zoo. "Free passes." Asher smirks. We rush on line, behind a bunch of smiling five year olds. A little boy runs up to me and tugs at my free hand.
I look down at him and smile. He look about five or so with the cutest of smiles. His face is painted like a tiger and his eyes are bright green. "Yes?" I smile down at him, curious to where his parents are.
"You're pretty." The boy says to me, holding his hands behind his back now. "Thank you, little cutie." I say to him, a bit surprised at his words. "I am so sorry."a tired looking woman says to me before picking him up and carrying him off.
I turn to see Asher stiff with a clenched jaw. I kiss his cheek, "Are you seriously jealous of a five year old?" I giggle at him, teasing. He loosens, "Hey! She was after my girl!" He laughs, putting his hands up defensively. "Your girl?" I continue to tease him. He shrugs at this, putting his arm around me.
I wonder what he meant, we're not together.
Maybe because we both like each other.
We get on the ride, and sit on the bench seat, like before. "This seems familiar." I laugh, turning to him as the carousal starts to move and the calliope begins to play. Asher nods in agreement as I lean into his chest. "Thank you." I whisper to him. "For what?" He asks, looking down at me. "For taking me here today." I reply simply with a faint smile. "Oh, the day hasn't even started. I have a lot more planned." Asher smirks proudly. I look up at him curiously, but he puts his finger over his lips.
More surprises? Okay. For once, I'm not complaining.
After the ride comes to an end, we view the rest of the exhibits (including the amazing llamas) and then leave.
The time is already about 4:00, and it's shocking that we spent six hours at the zoo! I get in the car next to him, and turn to face him.
"Where to now?" I ask with anticipation. "You'll see." Asher replies mysteriously with a smirk. He start the car and we drive away, into the distance.
The ride is full of excitement. "Can I guess?" I smile. "Sure." Asher rolls his eyes and laughs. "Bowling?" He shakes his head no.
And it continues.
"Movie?"
No.
"Park?"
No.
"Chuck E. Cheese?" I joke.
Of course not.
"Air trampoline!" I guess hopefully. I love that place so darn much and I'll never let go.
Nope.
"I give up." I sigh unhappily, looking out the window. "Quitter." Asher teases, poking me.
We pull into a parking lot in an area I don't recognize. I glance at a sign ahead.
Birdie Plane's Skydiving
"Woah woah woah. So we're just casually just freakin skydiving?" I say uneasily. He smiles, "Take a risk. We talked about this, you were excited. Remember?" He's right, of course. It sounded awesome.
I nod carefully as we both get out of the car. "Okay." I squeak quietly. He leads me down a path and into a small gray building.
In the building, there is a gray desk full of papers. An older woman occupies the desk, clacking away at an ancient keyboard. Asher clears his throat loudly, making the old lady look up at us standing in front of the counter.
"Hello dears. Do you have a reservation?" She asks sweetly. Asher nods quickly with a grin, "Ross." He tells her simply.
She shuffles through papers until she pulls out one. She looks at it and at the computer screen, nodding her head slowly. She smacks her lips loudly, "Yes. I need both of you to sign some things, then you'll go to an instructor." She explains.
We both sign like thirty million papers. Including one that says we won't sue them if we die.
Oh joy.
"How are we just casually going skydiving?" I laugh, pulling my hair in a ponytail. He simply shrugs with a grin, putting an arm around me.
We go to another small gray building. This is where we'll meet the instructor who will tell us what to do. Tell us how not to die.
I'm nervous and a weight sits on top of my chest. What if die? At least I'll know that I died taking a risk, that I died after changing for the better. "I would bet money that you are overthinking this right now." Asher chuckles quietly in my ear. "Well, you would win that bet. But it's okay, I'm taking the risk, I'm changing." I say breathily, my voice heavy. "The point isn't only taking risks, it's living in the moment. Not caring. Try this: Just stop thinking about it completely. It's a normal day, just think as it as nothing." Asher suggests and explains. I nod vigorously, anxiety clearly in my eyes.
