Chapter 5: "Guys, let's make a band."

Hailey's POV

"Luke, you're being a pain in the ass"

He was singing loudly. Strumming his guitar loudly. We all agreed to make our assignments in my house, but I don't think he was even aware that he agreed to it.

"I remember when I first met Luke, he was a total pain in the ass too. He sent me straight to my mum's gardenias. I was grounded for like three days." Calum said

Luke was still strumming his guitar and now he was belting out random lyrics

(Luke Rapping) Say what you want but I'm not listenin' Coz' I'm rappin' my way home to Sydney.You know I do it hard! You know I'm doing everything from the strings! You know nothing to beat my bitter beat uh beat !uhhhh...

Yeah. he was great at blurting out random stuff. He was great waking up Michael, who was sleeping a while ago not until he heard him rapping his lungs out.

"Who would've known we'd still be friends for like two straight years." Michael said while still hugging a pillow and crouching at the sofa.

Yeah. I can still remember when we first met. All of us. Like when Calum introduced Luke and he was all awkward and weird. He's still weird today though.

"Y'know what guys, I think we should have a group name" I blurted out.

"yeah, something like "the three dudes who's crazy for music .......and a girl"" Calum suggested teasing me.

"I think that's a cool name!" Luke said when he finally stopped singing, now he's joining in with Calum who was his favorite cuddle buddy. I was giving them the weird look when Luke was giving Calum a backhug. What a big guy for backhugs.

"Totally. we should go for it." Michael added

"Ha-ha! Oh it's totally funny, guys. Look my sides hurt from laughing. " I said sarcastically.

I was about to get back from doing my math assignment which is literally digging my brain out. When out of the blue Michael looked seriously at us and said:

"You know guys, if we all like the same music.."

he paused. he was looking at each of us

"that if we only can, we could sing all day and just jam like we don't care about anybody else"

I think he was referring to all the times when we play our band cds and sing to them with all our hearts out . I remember that there was a time when the next morning we all had sore throats.

"What if we're all in a band?"

Me , Calum and Luke were exchanging glances. We kinda felt weird on how's Michael acting right now. Sleep must have got him all serious.

"Well that coming from you, Mikey.. It's shocking but who knows eh? I think that's awesome." I said to him

"Yeah man. That would be cool if we could just rock out to every place in the world." Calum added.

"I'd love to be in a band. Seriously guys, I'll trade school to be in a band." Luke said breaking off the tension.

Michael returning to his old self laughed at Luke then said " if you do that, I bet the teachers gonna put up a party."

"Yeah they'd say: 'No one's gonna sleep in class again. Yayyyy!" Calum said while waving his hands in the air that sent all of us laughing, even Luke. We make fun of him all the time but he still loves us anyway.

Mikey's POV

I was about to head straight home but It was still kind of early so I went down town to a friend's bar.
Wasn't the type in tvs actually with the nudes and stuff. how I wish there were nudes...

lol. but this was that kind of place that gives you the relaxing vibe. best place to chill I recommend to everyone.

"Yo, Mikey" I saw Mart setting up at the entrance. he owns this place.

"Man, got some show tonight?" I said while walking with him inside.

"Nahhh, folks come rare this time of the year. Anyway I'm glad that people keep coming 'cause we serve the best food." he chuckles. Still an optimist .very common of Mart.

I helped him with the chairs and tables because his place comes buzzing at night time. When I finished, I went up to this mini stage where I used to play pretend concerts with Calum when the place was still closed and we come home early from school.

I found myself tuning Mart's guitar that's been sitting in a corner for while. It was a bit dusty. I guess people don't often come to perform here anymore.

"Look at you, I still remember that small kid playing plastic guitars inside my shop." Mart said while coming to sit with me and then he ruffled my hair.

*flashback*
(Mikey here was still 6 yrs old)
Dad was taking me to a stroll down town on a sunday. We were coming to get some ice cream when a new store caught my attention.

"Dad!" I tug his shirt

"Dad, look!" I tug while pointing the store.

"What was it bud?" he squatted down to see me clearly. I point the store

"How about we take a look inside? " he smiled at me as I run inside the store

I looked and there were rows of all weird stuff that make noises. I stopped by to see an odd looking instrument with strings in it almost taller than me.

"woaaahh"

" I see you found our best seller." a man said . he's taller than me but i think hes younger than my dad.

" What's this?" I point the thing with strings.

" That' a guitar, Wanna learn how to play?" he suggested. he took one that's smaller from the first I saw and handed it to me.

Dad was looking around for me and he was surprised that I learned how to play the A chord. from that day on Mart would bring that guitar to our house and teach me stuff after school and in weekends. I fell in love with playing that it led me to my heart for music.

*end of flashback*

"Might as well use what you taught me" I said to Mart

"Play me a song tonight" mart said.

"What? no! I'm not going to." I protested. I don't feel that great performing by myself. In a crowd especially.

"Come on, My birthday's coming soon. I need an inspiration." he was whining so bad that it looks weird.

"How about I bring my friends and we perform on your birthday?" I suggested. Luke's a great performer. Hailey can charm the crowd. Calum and I can be a comic relief.

" wow, so you're in a band? that makes me so proud of you kid ." he chuckled while tapping my back

People were coming in and Mart's staff were preparing the food so I found an excuse to get out of his bar.

thinking back what i said a while ago.. God , I'm dead.

what do I do? he's gonna be sad for sure If I back out on his birthday.

I need to tell the guys . how can I tell them in a way they won't get mad?

How should I put this... I sent a group text to my 'band mates'

"Guys, let's make a band"
