5] Reunion.
Falak
Tears pricked in my eyes as I felt her body against mine. She wrapped her arms around me and I did the same.
"Oh Falak. Is it really you?" She asked as we were hugging. I did not reply.
We finally pulled apart.
"You two know each other?" Alina asked, confused.
I turned to her and nodded.
"We are best friends and haven't been in contact for a long time."
"Oh." She replied, with a smile. I returned the smile.
"Oh I am so sorry! Walykum Assalam!" I suddenly remembered the other lady, who was now standing in her place awkwardly.
"It is okay. I totally understand. I'm Zainab, by the way. " She answered with a kind smile.
"Falak." I said and she nodded.
"Okay, please, everyone take a seat." Alina said to us all kindly.
We obliged.
The whole evening I desperately wanted to talk to Khadija, but I couldn't get her alone.
We had dinner and when we were leaving, asked her for her number.
Finally on our way home, I told Faaris.
"Faaris, do you know Major Kamran well?" I asked him.
"Yeah. We were together in Peshawar. Why?" He replied, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Well, his wife Khadija is my best friend." I answered.
"Really?" He raised his left eyebrow in surprise. Oh how I loved that look.
"How come I have never heard of her?" He asked, eyeing me briefly.
"We lost contact a few days after Baba passed away. I never thought we'd meet again." I told him, "Ya Allah! I'm so happy!"
He gave me a lopsided smile.
"I'm glad."
"Yay! We're both glad!" I exclaimed, causing Faaris to laugh.

"Are you sure you don't want me to skip all this?" She asks, looking intently at him.
She loves the way he looks when he is so attentive.
"Yes. You have never told all this to me. I wanna know." He answers with certainty.
"All right, then."
