18] Flashback # 5

"Did you revise the eighth chapter?" Falak asked her son as she served him breakfast.

"Yeah." He answered, engrossed in his notes.

"Okay well, Now have breakfast quickly." She told him and he nodded, putting his notes on the table.

"Don't wanna be late!" She sang.

"Ugh. You remind me of that sunsilk (a shampoo) ad. The one with the crazy girls with long hair!" Haider made a face.

"I meant to. Now hurry up because... You don't wanna be late!" Falak grinned evilly and Haider groaned.

Haider was giving his final exams of FSc. Today was his last paper and was of physics. Falak had helped him clear his confusions.

When they were both done with breakfast, Falak drove Haider to his examination hall and then went to her school. She had been teaching there for so many years and was now the principal.

So much had changed. Her good friend Farrah had left the school a year after they met as she was couldn't bear to continue after her eldest son passed away in an accident.

Another year passed, and she herself passed away due to Liver Cancer. Her daughter Safia was devastated. Losing two important members of her family was hard on her. She was a great student and still managed to maintain her grades.

After losing her friend Falak made a few more, but it was never the same.

Falak still met with Safia from time to time as she was a wonderful student. She was now doing her MBBS.

Falak kept in touch with many students. Many of them were very successful. Safia's best friend Noor was doing her MBBS with Safia and was also married.

Later that day, Falak was busy in her work in her office when her PA informed her of a visitor. The visitor turned out be Safia.

"Assalam o Alykum, ma'am!" She exclaimed.

"Walykum Assalam! How are you? It's been so long!" Falak replied, gesturing her to take a seat.

"Yeah. I've been busy with college and stuff. How are you? And your son- uh Faaris?" She said.

"Haider. We are good."

"Oh yeah. He is Haider. Faaris is... yeah... so what are you doing?" Safia attempted to change the topic. Needless to say her attempt was pathetic.

Falak laughed.

''It is okay, Safia."

Safia smiled.

"So, what are you doing?"

"Signing report cards." Falak.answered, waving one at her.

"Good luck signing all those." Safia chuckled, gesturing to the huge pile resting on her former teacher's desk.

"How's your Dad? And Noor?" Falak asked.

"They're good. Noor got married a week ago." Safia answered with a smile.

"Yeah I know. I talked to her last week as I couldn't attend her wedding. Haider has his exams and I was kinda busy.''

Safia nodded.

"And Dad. Well, I don't know about him. Like he asked me to consider marriage and I naturally refused. You know me. I don't wanna get hitched. Ever. So, he didn't pressurize me, instead he shifted our house to my name. Like I don't understand why. It makes no sense." Safia told Falak, sounding a bit distressed.
