Chapter 5: Don't let the balls hit your head

Taylor was really happy that it was Saturday. Especially since he gets stay up let from his bedtime (yes he has a bedtime). Normal he would go to sleep sprung 9:30 but on the weekend he stays up till 10 and in his opinion, that was late. This morning when he woke up he felt re-fresh, he got up and did some yoga with his mother and took a shower and got ready. He decided to not wear a bandanna today since it will be a little warm today.

After he was done, he posted a picture on instagram. The picture with soccer balls and the caption was," IM GOING TO MY LITTLE SISTER'S BASKETBALL GAME TODAY". Then turned off his phone and created posters since he really wanted his little sister to do her best. He also was excited to see Shawn today and couldn't wait to have fun with him.

Shawn wasn't really dressed, he was still in his pjs. He was debating on going. He really didn't wanna go to a place where there would tons of screaming and yelling with soccer moms cheering their kids on. He didn't wanna disappoint his 'puppy buddy' either. It took about 30 mintues for The younger boy to decide. He decided not to go to the soccer since he barely wanted to go there and he didn't wanna hang out with Taylor today.

He heard a knock on his bedroom door. "Can I come in" His aunt Julia asked as she knock. Of course, Shawn didn't answer and she came in anyways with laundry. She lay his clothes on the bed and started folding them for him. "Aren't you going out today" she asked him while he was watching the show Good luck Charlie. The younger boy looked at with a confused expression on his face since how does she know then Julia spoke, "I saw your notepad on the table and it had address on it". Then she added, "You know Shawn you don't if you don't want to but I think you should go it will be something different for once".

"You might even enjoy yourself" She smiled at him and finished folding his clothes and left. Shawn thought about what she said and came to his conclusions.

"Oh yeah mom, my friend Shawn is coming" Taylor said happily while riding his car with his family. "That's great honey" his mom spoke not paying attention to her 2nd oldest child. "Do you like him or something because you literally talk about him all day" Kelly stated as she texted quickly on her phone. "Why wouldn't I like him? He is my puppy buddy" The older boy said with a smile. "Puppy buddy? Taylor how old are you?" She said wondering why her brother was so childish. "I'm 16, I thought you knew that!" Taylor said with joy, Kelly groaned at his oblivious.

Finally they got to the game, The Caniff's  got out of the car and Taylor held his poster that he made for Jordan while walking his family. His dad set up their chairs and Taylor took a sit next his sister Kelly and his mom and dad sat together while Tristan sat on her lap. Taylor spotted his sister Jordan with her team coming out to the field and instantly couldn't help but shouted her name, "JORDAN DO YOU BEST I LOVE YOU AND DONT LET THE BALLS HIT YOUR HEAD". People from other families looked over at him with a glare and Jordan just ignored since she was too embarrassed.

The older boy looked at his iPhone and noticed that the game was about to start in 2 minutes and Shawn didn't show up yet. He wasn't sure if Shawn was going to show up which made his mood a little gloomy since he wanted to see him today. It's like one of those feelings when you tell your family that you have a friend and that friend never shows up and they think you were lying kind of a feeling. Taylor stayed positive that his puppy buddy was going to show up and went to the parking lot to wait for him even if it was 99.1% chance that he won't come.

Shawn was in the car with Julia. He kept on thinking if going was good idea but it was too late now to make a u-turn. He also kept on fixing his black flannel making sure if it wasn't dirty or wrinkle. Julia came up to a soccer field's parking lot. "Is that the boy your trying to look nice for?" She said to him with big smile as she pointed at Taylor who was on his phone but didn't see them pull up. Shawn blushed a little and shook his head no. Julia didn't noticed he shook his head but she got out the car and Shawn didn't know what she was doing.

The younger boy got out the car when he saw his aunt approach Taylor. "Hello I'm Julia, Shawn's aunt" She introduced herself to him. "HI IM TAYLOR, IM HIS PUPPY BUDDY" He happily said and shook her head fast. "Hi Shawn" The older boy saw him come up to his aunt. "Aren't you quite a taker" She said him as a compliment. Shawn was feeling embarrassed like if this was your parents meeting your boyfriend for the first time. "Well thank you ma'am but I don't know what you mean by that" He sounded confused with an raise eyebrow.

"Anyways what time does this event end?"She asked looking at her watch. "It ends at 4pm" Taylor replied to her with a small smile. "I'll pick you up Shawn by then and it was nice meeting you Taylor" She spoke but before she left, she whispered in The younger boy ears, "I like him, make sure you keep him. Then she drove off. "Come on, we're burning daylight" Taylor said excited and took his hand and ran towards the field. "Mom, Dad, Kelly, Tristan this is Shawn and Shawn this is my family" Taylor spoke while his family wasn't too impressed about his friend but didn't care.

Taylor was about to take a seat but noticed that Shawn didn't have a seat to sit in but he had idea. "Okay Shawn sit here" Taylor told him. Shawn did exactly what he did and next thing you know, Taylor was sitting on his lap. He wasn't even sitting on the side, it was like full lap, he was basically sitting on Shawn's crotch. It made him on a little flustered inside which was weird to him. When the game started, Taylor kept on moving around on his lap since he was cheering Jordan and kept on clapping every time his sister made it inside the goal. So The younger boy wrapped his arms around the older boy's waist so he can keep him stable and that made Taylor smile largely.

An hour was over and game was finished and Taylor's Sister team won the game. Shawn actually enjoyed himself because it was better than doing nothing all day. Taylor and Shawn was walking behind Caniff's and Shawn aunt was already in the parking lot waiting for her nephew. "I had fun and I'll miss you Shawn even if I see you on again Monday" Taylor sounded slightly sad saying his farewell to him but gave him a hug. Shawn didn't know how to react at first since Taylor was hugging really tight but slowly put his arms around him.

They let go of each other after 2 minutes and went their separate ways. Shawn wanted to hug the shorter boy again but he didn't feel so lonely for once.
