~Stephanie's POV~
I close my eyes and rest my head against Luc's chest and try to bring my breathing to its normal pace as he rubs my back soothingly.
I feel my eyes start to get droopy, and he must sense it 'cause he picks me up bridal style and carries me to the bedroom.
He lays me on the bed softly and I turn my back to him, not wanting him to see my cheeks blackened with mascara.
He wraps his arms around me from behind and kisses my neck.
"Everything will be okay," he says.
I nod my head, believing him completely. As long as I have him everything will be just fine, perfect even.
I close my eyes and drift off to a soundless, dreamless, slumber.
I open my eyes, feeling Luc release me from his arms. I turn around and see that he's already out of bed and left the room.
I get up, ignoring the throbbing pain in my head, and go into the bathroom to wipe my face and brush my teeth. Honestly, I don't care what time it is.
I exit the bathroom and go back to the bedroom. I change out of my dress and into one of Luc's shirts. It reaches just below my butt, showing a little of my lace underwear. I don't care. I take my hair out if its ponytail and leave the bedroom. The only light that's on is the dining room light. I tip toe into the room and see Luc sitting at the head of the table on the phone. He seems to be scolding someone.
I walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He's so tense and angry, but he relaxes under my hands and takes a deep breath.
"You know what, do what I say or you'll regret it," he says, his calm voice seemingly angry, stressed, and murderous.
He hangs up the phone and slams it on the table. I jump at the loud noise. I thought the table might give away by how loud it was.
"I'm sorry," he says.
"Sorry for what," I ask, very confused.
"For scaring you," he says.
I smile, "you didn't scare me Luc," I stand next to him.
I see all his hair covering his face and a grimace on his lips.
"Luc, what's stressing you out," I ask.
He pulls me into his lap and I'm grateful for that. "I need you," he says quietly.
I raise my eyebrows. I've never seem him like this before. He's always so strong and on top of things, but now he needs me when I'm usually the one that needs him.
I push his hair out of his face and put my hands on both sides of his cheek and look into his eyes. "Luc, tell me what's wrong," I order.
He sighs, "nothing I'd worry you with," he says.
"You can worry me with anything," I say, then chuckle at my own words, he seems to catch what I said as funny also.
"No, my lovely fiancé shouldn't worry about silly things," he caresses my cheek.
I put my hand over his and put it on the arm of the chair. "You're lovely fiancé cares about you, so tell her what's wrong," I say in an authorative tone, but it doesn't phase him.
"Just the company I own, my employees are being...children," he says.
"So you really do own a company," I say, "I thought it was a cover up."
"My company is a cover up for my being...what I am. But there are demons who work there," he explains.
I nod in understanding.
