When I woke up I wasn't laying in my bed or staring at the gray walls in my room. Instead, my head is laying on Jimmy's chest hearing his steady heartbeat.
His right arm is resting around my waist underneath the purple throw blanket, which I don't recall being here when we fell asleep last night. Without moving too much I slowly but carefully sat up and looked at Caiden sleeping on the other side of Jimmy's chest.
Jimmy is resting his feet on the coffee table I felt a smile creep on my face as I stare at them, both of their mouths are slightly open and I shook my head now I see where Caiden got that from.
I carefully pulled off the purple throw blanket and tuck it into Jimmy. I could get use to this, waking up next to him every morning. Before I got up I gave him and Caiden a kiss on the forehead. Jimmy shifted a little and fell back to sleep. I got up and tiptoed to my room still being as quiet as I can.
I walked in, closed the door and collapsed on the bed when the memories from last night came rushing back to me. Jimmy apologized, he confessed his feelings for me, he told me that he's was in the beginning process of divorcing Nancy since she can't seem to accept the fact me and Caiden are here now. Jimmy said they were having problems before we even entered the picture. We told each other we loved one another. I'm laying here thinking about AD, I still have a date with him.
Now, I'm debating with myself if I should go with him or not. I mean, I don't want to hurt his feelings. I hate myself for this, this isn't fair to him.
I rolled over and face the wall when I heard my phone ringing. I groaned and got up to retrieve it, I looked at the caller id, it's my best friend Destiny. I pressed the green button and laid back down with the phone laying on my ear. "Hey, Dest, what's up." I asked. I haven't spoke to her since I left LA.
"Happy Birthday, girlie. I just wanted to tell you that I'm just in one of the greatest cities in the country."
I laid there for few seconds wondering where she's at, "thanks Dest, I don't feel 24. Are you in San Francisco?" I questioned.
Destiny stayed quiet before she responded, "trust me I still don't feel it either. I still get carded whenever I buy Robitussin or any cough syrup." We shared a laugh because it always happens, no matter how many times the cashier sees her. "No, SF is the 3rd best city. Keep guessing, it's fucking obvious." She lets out a laugh.
Even though, I'm not in the mood to laugh right now she knows how to cheer me up. It's my birthday, I'm too young to be having any guy problems. I heard her cussing somebody out, "hurry up Brae, before I get ran over by a bicycle." She continued to laugh.
"I don't know, New York." I said shrugging my shoulders, like she can actually see me.
"Ding, ding, ding!!" She shouted. I pulled the phone away from my ear. Sometimes, I forget how loud she is. "I'm in New York. Actually in Times Square right now." Destiny continued.
I quickly popped up, "wait! You're actually in New York?" I smiled.
"Yessss." She replied.
"W-what are you doing out here?"
"Well, I missed you and Caiden so much, I packed some clothes and came out here, plus it's your birthday. Did you actually think I'll miss that?" She admitted.
"Oh my god, Dest!!!! I can't believe you're out here." I whispered yelled, trying to keep my voice down. I pulled the phone way from my ear to see the time. It's 10:54am.
"Well believe it sista girl." She said. By the tone of her voice, I could tell she's smiling.
"How long are you out there for?" I asked, I can't believe, my best friend is really out here.
