Lashay's POV
I stand there in shock, the phone still against my ear.
It's no way I'm pregnant is it? I've taken my pills once a month like the doctors instructed me.
"Miss.Dixon?"
"I-I'm still here." I stutter out, sitting down on the bed to get my thoughts together.
"So from the pause I'm guessing this was not purposely?"
"No it wasn't. Could I please make an appointment?" I ask with a hint of desperateness in my voice. I just wanted to find out this wasn't true so I could say false alarm and get back to my daily life.
"Of course. When would you like it?"
"As soon as possible."
"Surprisedly tomorrow has a space that is free. Would you like to set it then?"
"Yes please."
"Alright."
I hear what sounds like typing in the background before her voice sounds through the phone again.
"So tomorrow at 1 is the only space that is free."
"That's fine."
I could just eat my lunch on the way there. It shouldn't take that long considering my lunch break was longer then the average lunch break.
"Alright it is set. I'll see you then ok?"
"Ok. Thanks Doc."
"No problem. You have a good night."
Yeah right.
"You too."
I hang up the phone and toss it on the bed beside me before sitting my head in my hands.
I could have sworn I was as safe as possible! I wasn't ready for any children right now! I love them of course but I'm just 22 years old!
"Shay?"
I look up and Trey was standing in the doorway with a worried expression on his face.
I quickly sit up, putting on my best fake smile.
"Yes?"
"Is everything ok? You've been up here for some time and I wanted to check on you."
"N-No I'm fine. I think I wanna call it a night."
"Call it a night? It's only 10."
"I know. I just tired."
I get off the bed and make my way to the bathroom. I feel Trey's eyes staring at the side of my head as I walk past him. I shut the door in the bathroom before sinking to the floor, covering my face on the way down.
I can't believe I could possibly have another human being growing inside of me.
I just, I wasn't ready for this. I wasn't ready for motherhood so soon.
"Shay? Shay baby what's wrong?" I hear Trey's concerned voice outside the door along with a soft knock on the door.
I wipe the tears that I didn't even realize had fell and picked myself off the tile floor.
"Nothing baby I'm just taking off my makeup."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes Trey." I say, my voice cracking with emotion at Trey. This must was the hormones people were talking about.
