Erika's POV:

I woke up the next morning, before the sun rose. I sat in the village center, not knowing where else to go and hummed softly as I watched the sky change colors.

I closed my eyes as I felt the music grow within me. I smiled as I felt the sun warm my skin. I don't know how long I stayed like this.

My eyes snapped open as I heard something move behind me. I stopped humming and turned slowly to look around.

I saw a gray stallion with a fiery red main and tail, I smiled slightly at him. My head spun the other direction as I heard another sound.

A cream colored mare with a baby blue main and tail was glaring at me. My smile faded. The stallion and mare started circling me. I wrapped my tail around my legs, feeling insecure.

"See the moon slink down in the sky, darling
Let your fantasies fly, darling
Life is cold, and the game is old." The stallion sang as he glared at me.

"Just see how virtue repays you
You turn and someone betrays you
Betray him first
And the game's reversed!" The mare sang this time.

I shrunk back a little, they both started to sing.

"For we all are caught in the middle
Of one long treacherous riddle
Can I trust you? Should you trust me too?
We shamble on through this hell
Taking on more secrets to sell
Till there comes a day when we sell our souls away!"

The stallion got in my face and sneered as he sang.

"Through the mist your lover is beckoning
Comes that moment of reckoning
Faces change, even smiles grow strange."

The mare then got in my face. I backed up a little, unsure what was going on.

"And we all have so many faces
The real self often erases
Enticing lies, flicker through our eyes"

More of the villagers had shown up, they circled around me and growled. I whimpered as they started to sing.

"Feel the terror draw ever nearer
The more you stare in the mirror
But hold your own
Face the wind alone
Reel on, love! Toughen your scars
Year by year we're falling like stars
Till there comes a day when we well our souls away!"

The stallions circled around me and got in my face.

"Can I run to you? Are you true to me?
I'll do unto you as you do to me!
And we slowly learn you will have to burn!"

They kicked me to the floor and pinned me down. They pulled my right hind leg out. I felt nothing but fear.

"Better you than me!
And only fools follow golden rules
We all are caught in the middle
Of one long treacherous riddle
Of who trusts who, maybe I'll trust you
But can you trust me?
Wait and see!"

They started trampling the leg they had pulled out. I screamed in pain and started to black out.

"Welcome home Princess." The stallion spat as I blacked out.
