An Elk and Pegasus

A scream pierced the silence as Erika woke up shivering in fear. She sat up quickly and winced slightly as her leg moved, she panted heavily as the dream faded slowly.

She looked around frantically, trying to figure out where she was. She frowned when she remembered what the villagers had done to her.

She carefully stood up, making sure not to add pressure onto her hind leg. She bit her lip as she slowly walked around the room, trying to figure out where she was.

Other then being in a large cave, she couldn't find any other definite marks or signs. She limped the mouth of the cave and blinked rapidly to adjust her eyes.

After her eyes adjusted, she looked around in confusion. The village was gone.

She felt herself panicking. She carefully searched the woods, looking for any sign of the village.

Braken was on his way back from speaking with his friend. He stopped mid stride as he sensed something had changed.

He scanned the woods as he headed towards the mountain. He stopped as he saw something, or rather, someone at the corner of his eye.

He frowned as he realized who it was, he walked towards her and stood in her path. Erika shrieked in surprise and stared at him with fear filled eyes.

"Wh-who are you and wh-what am I doing here?"

"You know the answers." A deep and commanding voice entered her mind.

She bit her lip and nodded. The elk started walking back to the mountain. She hesitantly limped after him.

"Where's the zebra?"

He had other things to attend to, so I am in charge of making sure you heal. The elk looked back at her.

She nodded sadly and followed.

Erika laid down on her side as Braken continued healing her. It had been several weeks since she'd left and she was getting frustrated.

"Is it healed yet?" She looked up at him.

The elk glared at her and resumed working. She sighed in frustration and tried to occupy herself.

Why don't you sing for us? It will take your mind off the pain and time.

She bit her lip and started humming softly.
