My eyes open what felt like minutes later.
I was curled up and at Kevin's side while he was still in a deep asleep.
As in on cue the Doctor walked in surprising me as he smiled weakly. "Oh good, your awake."
I was asleep? Oops.
"I did not mean to awake you but I was wonder if you'll come with me for a few, your next door neighbor is here and I wish to speak to you both."
I look at my brother scared to leave him in his broken looking state.
"Don't worries. As soon as we're done talking you come right back in here alright?"
I look at the Doctor and nod my head softly and allow him to lead me out of the room. I look up at the Doctor confused.
"Why is our neighbor here? Shouldn't mom and dad be here?"
The Doctor said nothing but a slightly panicked look speed across his face as he led me into a different room where a tall skinny man awaited us.
It was our neighbor John. He has sandy brown hair and dark green eyes, he was always coming over to help our family out and to play with me and Kevin.
The Doctor nodded at John and they both Sat down, I sat in the seat next to John who smiled softly at me.
"Hey Kyle. How's Kevin?"
I don't make eye contact as I said he was not doing good. All John did was nod as he looked at the Doctor.
The Doctor looked uncomfortable but sighed. "Kyle. John is here because he has made a nice offer for you and your brother."
I nod my head not really wanting to talk.
"Because y'all share an apartment building and he's good friends with your parents he will be taking care of you and your brother, he claimed it won't be too much and we believe him."
I nod my head a little confused. "Okey... Why can't mom and dad take care of us?"
The Doctor looked uneasy and John looked away already knowing the answer.
"Kyle, I'm... I'm sorry. Your mom and dad died in a car crash. Your brother was lucky to live but right now he appears to be in shock and shows no sign of waking up soon."
The doctor was blunt but from the sound of the voice, one could tell he wished he did not have to deliver such news.
Kyle froze.
"W-what...?"
The Doctor sighed. "I know it's a lot to take in..." He trailed off not knowing what to say.
I knew death. I saw it on the movies dad always watched.
Mom and dad... Are dead?
I could feel hot tears begin to trail down my face as my breathing came out uneven.
John tried to reach over to hug be but I flinched away from his touch.
Mom and dad...gone...dead.
My eyes darted to the unhappy looking Doctor then to a sad John. I need my brother.
Yeah. Kevin needs me just like I need him right now. I say nothing as my body moves on its own.
The doctor tried to ask what I was doing but I could only mumble one word.
"Kevin."
As if everything was understood the Doctor Sat back down and began to talk to John while I went back to my brother's room. I crawled up onto the bed and looked up at the roof.
"Kevin. Mom and dad are gone. What are we going to do?" I ask my brother's sleeping form. I lay down next to him and begin to cry. Hard.
I heaved as I sobbed clutching onto the white Doctor shirt they put on him. Still being careful of my older brothers wounds.
It's just him and me now.
But first. Kevin needs to wake up.
• John was the only other person that was considered an uncle to the two brothers. So it was not surprising that he was called about the boys, but what did shock him was the reason he was called. When they asked he was more than happy to say hell take care of them in their parents place. He knew them well and had plenty of money to take care of them. Heck, they could still live in their part of the apartment and he'll still have plenty of money. He knew it would take time for them to recover from this, especially Kevin, for he was in the crash itself. Kyle being younger should get over it a little easier. He hoped. •
I watched Kevin's sleeping form sadly. It's been hours but he's still not awake. It scares me. He's not dead too right?
I look over to see a red button that read push for help and pushed it. It did not take long for a Doctor to run in. "What is it!?" He asks looking at me and then my brother.
"He won't wake up!" I cry out in a slight panic.
The Doctor sighed softly. "That's fine. He might be out for a few days."
"DAYS!?"
"Yes, with what he been through and saw, he needs time and sleep to recover, both mentally and physically."
"When will he be better?"
"I'll say hell be able to leave the hospital in about a month. But don't worry. He's a strong boy and he'll be fine."
I only nod as the Doctor walks away leaving me alone with my brother. "Don't worry. I won't leave you alone. I'll always be here. I sware to it."
I whisper to him softly as another Doctor walks in with a tray of food. He simply sets in down on the table then leaves.
I look at the food not really hungry desideing to eat later. For now he was tired and just wanted to sleep.
So he laid down and closed his eyes scared of what's to come next.

Everything was dark.
I did not like it. It sounded like someone was screaming but I was really alone.
Everything hurt but mostly it was just my mind spinning and spinning, as if in a never stopping trap.
I felt bad like something bad happened but I refused to rember it. But it was their.
I saw it happing over and over.
The blood.
They way they were twisted.
Their screams.
It all repeated over and over in my mind not leaving me alone haunting me.
I just wanted it to stop. I felt so alone. I felt so...broken.
Then I could feel a touch on my arm. The images slowly faded as the faded next to me untill the image was completely gone.
I felt calmer as the dreamless sleep took over, more relaxed now that I knew I was not alone.
