The too familiar faint smell of a hospital floated around effortlessly, the aroma of antiseptics and cleaning agents mainly. I sat up with ease luckily knowing where I am, but yet wondering how I got here?
Most probably passed out from being pulled down and smacking my head against the floor. I am not going to lie, I'm pretty impressed that I was able to find my way home, before passing out.
The "room", you could hardly call it a room, was more like a cubical that had no windows or doors but a bright blue curtain which goes around the circumference of your space.
Overall the "room" was sparse. I look around the room quickly to try and familiar myself with my surroundings.I swing my legs around so they hang loosely off the end of the bed before shuffling forward to place my feet on the ground and stand up. As simple as the task of standing up is, after the week I have had I have had many failed attempts. I planted my feet firmly on the floor before standing up properly.
Then the room started spinning and focusing was not going to happen. I fell back slightly using the end of the bed to catch my fall, just about to place a hand on my head when the curtain flung open.
"NATHAN!" She screamed, before sprinting towards me, throwing her arms around my neck. "You scared the F out of me!" She spoke anger lining her voice as she hit me weakly on my shoulder. "You're finally awake, what the hell is wrong with you!" Amongst her somewhat bipolar response, she kissed me quickly. "But don't touch you're head you have stitches" grabbing my wrists and holding them down by my side kissing me again.
I don't even know what happened after I passed out, or even how long I was out for. I just know that I went home because I needed help and she did exactly that.
"Are we interrupting something?" A small group of people stood in between the gap in the curtain. There was Noah with his arm around Emily and some doctors and nurses who I didn't know.
"Oh sorry Dr Gordon. Got a bit... emotionally distracted"
"Maybe a little to happy" Emily giggled which received a disapproving look from the doctor. Not that she took any notice.
"That's fine Miss Stone." The doctor breathed heavily, entering the space more with a file in hand, walking over to my bedside.
"Anyway Mr Evans I see the anaesthetic has worn off and it's good to have you back with us. How are you feeling?" Dr Gordon asked me with a well rehearsed doctor smile, whilst the nurses hovered around me taking various different readings from the machines that I was now attached to."Um yeah I'm feeling ok. I guess"
"Right, do you mind confirming your full name, date of birth and where you are" Dr Gordon spoke eloquently taking a pen from his shirt pocket and placing it on the paper waiting for my response.
"My name is Nathan James Evans and my date of birth is 12th April 1994. OUCH!" I winced, looking over to see one of the nurses pulling out the cannula from the back of my hand.
"Sorry sweet, I didn't mean hurt you" The nurse said whilst placing a bandage over the back of my hand.
"Ok Mr Evans as you were saying" The doctor continued.
"Yes sorry, I in hosp-" I was interrupted by two tall, beefy men either side of a smaller more petite woman. She looked professional and stern, her hair slick back into a tight bun wearing a uniform of some sort. She looked around the space glaring at each person within it, which made me hold on to Charlie.
"I'm DC Leesa Watson and this is PC Smyth and PC Donalds. It has come to our attention that what happened to you was no accident so people claim, it was in fact a deliberate action intended to cause harm to you. We were wondering if we could speak with you in private Mr Evans?" I nodded my head, everyone else read that as a signal to leave.
