"Aiden?" I whispered in astonishment, staring dumbfounded at the window. All my focus was drawn towards this one person and everything and everyone around me became obsolete. I don't understand, how he even knew I was here. I lost the majority of my contact with him when I moved out.
When I moved out to be with Charlie, me and Aiden became more and more distant. Not contacting each other, not seeing each other as much as we should have. He never told me why? After months of trying, I decided to be the bigger person and go and talk to him face to face. Nothing worked. I tried everything in my power to try and maintain the little brotherly relationship we had, but the results were negative. But the worst part is that I never even knew why he did it and still don't to this day?
"What's everyone staring at?" I asked curiously.
"Nothing it's just there's some guy just standing outside the window, it's kind of creepy" Noah said subtly pointing towards the window.
"Oh no he's harmless, wouldn't do anything." I responded. "Actually can one of you ask him to come in"
Emily smiled at me, went over to the door and cautiously asked him to come in. Everyone stopped and stared at this new stranger in the room. They all seemed to keep their distance from him, I could tell that he felt uncomfortable with all these people staring at him. Aiden looked at me with pleading eyes, as if he was begging to ask these people to leave. He never really liked attention. Obviously I caught on immediately and asked everyone to leave, much to the protest to some, I assured them I was fine and that I just needed to talk to the 'stranger' in private. After a few sceptical glances and low level mumbles of debate between the group, they finally gave in and left. Charlie was the last to leave; she mumbled to me asking if I was absolutely sure that I want to be left alone, I smiled reassuring her, to which she squeezed my hand gently and left.
Aiden stood there for a minute before saying anything. Almost as if her was taking in the whole situation, I myself was doing the same thing. I just didn't really know what to say, I had so many questions to ask him yet I can't seem to connect the thoughts in my head to my mouth.
"Can I sit down? Is that alright?" He asked quietly.
I nodded to the seat beside my bed.
"So umm... how are you feeling?" He questioned out of politeness. I could tell that he was struggling to find conversation.
"To be honest, I don't really know. It's all been a bit weird really, I just feel like I have this void of time between when I was hit and now. It's all so surreal. I don't really understand myself what happened" I spoke softly and slowly trying to find my voice again, since the only words that I have spoken have been basic and short, I haven't until now formed a proper sentence. It seems so long ago since I have done that.
Aiden took a deep breath before talking "The start of knowing what to do is understanding what has already happened. I'm only saying this because it's true and I can't stand to see you like this again. I don't think Charlie, Alex, Noah or Emily can either. You guys have been through a lot together. For Gods sake I mean you and Charlie. She was, no is the best thing that has ever happened to you. I still remember when you first told me about her and the incident in the practice room at school" He smiled a little, showing his signature dimple on his right cheek, which he has had since he was a baby.
*flashback*
"Dad I'm home!"I called out a lot more cheery than usual. The moment of what happened in the practice room at school, the thoughts and the words that she said to me still buzzing around my head. I can't seem to put words to my feelings, but all I know is that they are good.
