Everything was a disaster. The Glade was ruined. Buildings were destroyed, the wood was scorched, very little livestock was alive, and our food was gone. After one eventful night where the Grievers came and took my friend, Alby. I've been here from the start, and now it's gone.
I sat outside the pit with Chuck, Newt, and Minho, waiting for Thomas to wake up. Last night, Thomas had stabbed himself with a needle off a Griever so he could take the syringe and go through the Changing to bring back memories.
"What the hell were you thinking?" I heard Chuck say then I snapped my head towards Thomas to see him sitting up and awake.
"What happened?" Thomas asked, looking at Teresa. Newt explained how Gally has taken control of the Gladers and how Thomas was supposed to be banished at sundown.
"Gally has everyone convinced that you're the reason this happened," I explained. Everyone turned their heads to look at me, kind of shocked that I spoke up. I was always quiet no matter what.
"Well, he's been right so far," Thomas said. We all looked at him, confused.
"What are you talking about?" Minho asked and Thomas started explaining how the maze was a test and how Teresa and him helped WICKED before they were put in the Glade with us.
Soon, it was sundown, which meant banishing, but Thomas came up with a plan. A plan to escape out of here. Thomas and Minho had opened a new section a few days ago, called section 7, and we believe it's the exit. I stood with the rest of the Gladers as they brought Thomas and Teresa. Thomas was pretending to be passed out as they dragged him to the pole.
As they grabbed him to tie him, Thomas sprung into action, Frypan cut Teresa free, and Chuck came running with the supplies.
"You're full of surprises, aren't you?" Gally just looked at Thomas with the same hard expression he always wears.
"You don't have to come with us, but we are leaving. Anyone else that wants to come, now is your last chance." Thomas spoke up.
"Don't listen to him, he's just trying to scare you," Gally tried to calm the remaining Gladers.
"No, I'm not trying to scare you. You're already scared. I'm scared. But I'd rather risk my life out there than spending the rest of it in here. We don't belong here. This place isn't our home. We were put here. We were trapped here. At least, out there we have a choice. We can make it out of here. I know that," Thomas finished his small speech and some more Gladers started coming and joining us.
"Gally, it's over. Just come with us," Thomas tried to encourage Gally.
"Good luck against the Grievers," Gally spoke. We took one last look at the place we used to call home, then darted into the Maze. We all followed Thomas as he lead us to Section 7.
As we arrived, he stood behind a wall as Thomas peered over the corner.
"Is it a Griever," I asked.
"Yeah"
"Shit," Chuck whispered.
"You stay behind us Chuck and you take this," Minho said and handed Chuck the key that opened Section 7.
"It's okay. Just stick with me and Y/N," Teresa said, trying to help him calm down. I nodded and pulled my hair up.
"Lets go!" Thomas yelled and we all cheered and ran towards the Grivers. Thomas and the guys took on the first Griever, poking it and hitting it. One of the Gladers got caught and thrown off the side. Teresa hit the leg of a Griever which caused it to twitch and knock the key out of Chuck's hand.
