“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.”

― Marilyn Monroe

The ride to the theatre was the most uncomfortable one I had ever had. The atmosphere just got more suffocating after the conversation I had with Josh, bringing us back on square one. I didn’t bother breaking the eerie silence even though I knew I was at fault. I don’t know why I snapped at him. Maybe because at that point of moment his Mr. know it all attitude irked me or maybe a part of me was scared to tell him about Alec. I’ll go with both of them.

As soon as we reached the theatre I sighed out of relief and scrambled off my seat just to slam the poor door in order to showcase my annoyance. Without waiting for Josh, I made my way to where everyone was standing waiting for us with popcorn and cola.

“Heya all of you!” I smiled at everyone but Mel. Out of all the people she should have known better. Leaving me to hitch a ride with Josh? How clever!

They all smiled and returned my hey but Mel, who sensed something fishy, raised her eyebrows and asked “Brit, how was the ride and where the hell is Josh?”

“Yeah, we are running late.” Ryan said in a faraway voice, looking intently at Amanda.

Just look at him! How cute! I mentally gushed.

At the same moment, Josh decided to grace us with his auspicious presence and saved me from answering Mel’s question. I didn’t really want to answer that in front of everyone. Something related to personal space?

After he greeted everyone and I brought myself some candies, we scurried off to the movie hall. I sat next to Eric on the corner seat to be on the safest side and decided to reply back to Alec when Eric spoke.

“Damn! I hate these romantic movies.” He stated, drumming his fingers on the armrest of his seat.

How dare he!!!

I smacked his head. “You can NOT hate this movie!!” I exclaimed while stealing some of his popcorn.

“I saw that, you know?” he said dryly, pointing at the popcorn in my hand.

“Oh look! The movie is starting!” I informed him trying to change the topic of conversation from the popcorn in my hand to the credits on screen. I guess my efforts were acknowledged when he decided to adjust himself in his seat and watch the oh-so-interesting credits rather than fight over some silly popcorn.

I took my phone out and typed in the reply to Alec’s last message.

“I won’t forget to laugh at myself next time. :P I love this movie! It’s so sweet and touching. True love does exist after all! :) I am with some of my friends. What are you doing?”

Soon, I was lost in the movie. Watching ‘A walk to remember’ always leaves me with moist eyes. The movie has a magnet attached to it and I can’t help but watch the entire movie without moving. It fills me with emotions so deep that I can’t help but be awed. It makes me sad, happy and feel contended all the same time. A hope that there is someone out in this world who is meant for me, who’ll love me irrationally, arises deep down in my heart. After all I am a romantic person.
