Hoseok

He had just given his name and was waiting patiently for the silver-haired boy to find his name on the list. His anxiety level was rising, he could feel it. So he instead, wanted to focus on something more simple to distract his mind. His eyes immediately looked to the boys entire body, as if it were a natural instinct. His arms, he noticed, were covered in a variety of designs. So many tattoos, he couldn't count them all. But one caught his full attention. The butterfly outline across his hand looked simply beautiful, Hoseok thought. By the black and orange filled inside the patterns of the wings, he identified the butterfly as a monarch. Then he wondered what made the boy want the tattoo.

"Ah- Hoseok, got it, I'm Yoongi- you can follow me."

The sudden sound of the boy's voice interrupting Hoseok's thoughts made him jump at the slightest before following behind him through the small shop, plastered with tattoo blueprints across the walls everywhere he looked.

"You can sit over here-"

Hoseok sat on the cushioned platform he was directed to, waiting for further direction.

"So, what do you want today?"

He had to think for a moment before coming to a certain decision. Going into this, he knew what he wanted, but he thought about adding a small butterfly to it after seeing Yoongi's intricate tattoo.

"A treble clef with music notes streaming down from it and a small butterfly laying on top of the clef, if that all makes sense."

Hoseok was nervous again, it was evident as he played with the sleeves of his sweater and avoided eye contact. He glanced up once to see Yoongi taking notes on a small note pad.

"Okay, I'm gonna sketch this and you can watch to see if you like it, sound good?"

The silver-haired boy locks eyes with Hoseok, making him nod quickly before following him over to sketch the said design.

"So, is there a meaning to this?"

Hoseok watches Yoongi begin with a thin sheet of white paper and a simple number two pencil.

"Well, I'm a dancer, so I really like music."

"Ah- then why is there a butterfly?"

Hoseok's mouth opened but no words came out. Yoongi filled the silence before he could.

"Sorry, you don't have to tell me, I'm just curious. Butterflies have a lot of meaning, and it depends on the person I guess. It means freedom to me, and freedom is kind of a thing with me, that's why I got it tattooed on my hand."

He lifted his hand up to show Hoseok the same tattoo he'd been fixed on earlier. Hoseok could feel a wave of relief and comfort wash over him as Yoongi began to converse.

"It's- really nice. I mean, I didn't really think butterflies had meaning other then to just be a living insect."

There was a muffled sound heard from the employee part of the shop.

"And I'm laughed at for being philisophical-"

Hoseok noticed a small chuckle from Yoongi before he replied.

"Namjoon, do your job before you break something."

He kept his eyes on him until he realized they locked eyes for a short moment.

"Sorry about him- anyway, yeah- I like to think of myself as someone who thinks deeply."

Yoongi continued the sketch, Hoseok watched in amazement. He saw the way his mind came up with the design and put it on paper as if it were that easy.

"I wish I was like that. I'm just the average, stupid college kid."

A sense of joy filled Hoseok's chest when Yoongi let out a breathy laugh and showed a small grin.

"Being in college isn't easy in the first place, you'll see when you get out, you're not actually as dumb as you believe you are."

Hoseok was confused at his own feeling. All he knew was that this boy was the source of his pure elation and happiness in this moment.

"Thanks, Yoongi-"

"No problem, Hoseok-"

also if the description of Hoseok's tattoo was confusing them I'm sorry I didn't know how to describe it really bc I kinda just made it up

and please correct me if I'm wrong about the butterfly tattoo yoongi had during the run era being a monarch butterfly if anyone even knows that ?? like i looked it up but if you know your butterflies and shit and know that I'm wrong then it would be grand for you to let me know

I feel like this story is just gonna fall into the pits of hell idk

but ye enjoy and I'll try to update more often and not be inactive
