Neverregret

I woke up, and looked at the clock. Ten. I looked out the window and saw that it was bright out. That's impossible! It has to be dark at ten o'clock at night! Unless...

I jumped up from the hammock, and got stuck in it. I finally extracted myself, and ran to my brothers room. He usually goes to school an hour before me because he has to work out, so he wouldn't notice if I was up or not.

Great. He wasn't in his room. I ran around, looking in every room. "Sam?! Mom!?" Nothing. Only silence greeted me. "Great." I said to myself. Since I'm late, I guess I'll be fashionably late! I went into the bathroom and turned the shower on. I got in, and took my time. When I got out, it was eleven. My lunch was in an hour, and I could show up then and my teachers would never know. Except for Mrs. Snider.

She was my homeroom unfortunately. I had Mr. King and Julie before Mrs. Snider. Mr. King was social studies, and Julie was my special languages teacher. She taught Spanish. I went to Mrs. Snider first and last class. First class was an actual class, and last class was like a study hall. I guess I could just skip her class too. Or I could say I was sick and now I'm better. I don't know.

I went into my bedroom and dried off. I picked out some clothes, but that took a while. I finally chose out a shirt that was a black tank top with white hearts on it. I got some shorts on, and grabbed black flats with a cute bow on the tip of it. I did my hair and made it wavy/curly and put a lacy black bow in it. I put a little make up on, but other than that I was perfect.

I went down into the kitchen and made myself some cereal. It was eleven thirty, so I didn't have to be at school for a half hour. I ate slowly, dragging it out. When I was done, it was twelve. That means that I could head to school. Wait, how am I supposed to get there? It was like fifteen miles away! Well, maybe i was exaggerating. It was only six, and Sam had told me to walk it yesterday...

I guess I have to start walking. Great. I grabbed my bag and my book, and opened the front door. David was standing at my front door, hand getting ready to knock on the door.

"Oh, hey Maddie!" David smiled. Wow. Now this is awkward.

"Hey David." It was quiet for a moment. David's hands were in his pockets, and I was holding my bag and book.

"Come on already! You're going to school, not on a date!" Someone yelled from the car. My eyes shot to it and I saw Noah sitting in the front seat with the window down. He was smirking at David and I. Eric was in the back, looking nervous. He always looked skittish. He reminded me a little bit of a mouse.

"Oh, yeah. We came to see if you wanted a ride?" David smiled.

"Sure." I smiled back. He turned and walked to the car. I followed him, trying not to look at Noah. But my eyes slipped. I looked at him, and his smirk was gone. He was watching me intently. I was caught in his eyes, and I tripped. My knees scraped the ground, and my hands caught on the cement.

"Shit!" I yelled.

"Maddie! You okay?" David yelled as he ran to me. Noah seemed unfased, and Eric jumped out of the car. I rolled to sit on my butt, and looked at my knees. They were bleeding, and there was dirt in them. I checked my palms, and they too were bleeding.

"I'm going to go back inside and patch myself up." I said quickly. I did not want to sit here, with David and Eric worrying while Noah couldn't care less. I got up, and limped toward the house.

"I'm coming to help you." David exclaimed. I stopped, turned around, and looked at him.

"What?" I asked.

"I'm coming to help you." David said slowly as he came to me.

"No, I'm fine. You guys go to school. I'm going to make you late." I told David. I turned back to the house and went up the steps.

"Come on, you heard her." Noah complained. God, he is so annoying.
