Liam was sitting in the institute conference room with Alec and Jace since the library was taken. They both were giving Liam lessons and lessons about demonology. Liam shrugged at every question, now at the fortieth. "How about green scales and black horns?" Liam shrugged again. Alec rolled his eyes. "You are really making this difficult, you know." Alec sighed and put the book down, turning to Jace. "Switch." Jace took his spot while he fetched another cup of coffee. "Number 41..." he continued. Izzy came along with Amethyst after a long while of training. Both drenched in sweat and thirsty. "How's it going?" Izzy asked still panting. Jace looked in her eyes. "Terrible." Liam gasped. "Excuse me?" Jace looked at and raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?" After a few minutes the four were startled to hear stumbles of loud stomps going slowly down the stairs, they all turned and saw Barry, looking terrible. "Is he drunk?" Jace joked. Amethyst gave him an evil eye. "Barry, you okay?" She asked. Barry looked up, he then stumbled down the stairs, turning in pain when he got to the bottom. "By the Angel!" Izzy yelled. Izzy and Amethyst ran to him, while Jace and Liam walked to him smiling. "It's not funny Jace!" Amethyst yells. Barry finally gets up, his arm over Amethyst's shoulder for support. Liam almost bust out laughing. "What's wrong with you?" Alec asked as he came in with coffee. Barry took a long sigh, began to say something, but held his mouth and his stomach. "Barry?" Amethyst asked. In an instant, Barry was off running to the bathroom faster than he has ever ran before. Sounds of vomiting heard almost a second later. "What did you do to him, Amethyst?" Liam teased. Amethyst looked up at him from her hands. "I have no idea." Jace then bugged into the conversation. "I bet $5 that Magnus made him drink too much of his "special whiskey" ." He joked. Izzy rolled her eyes and left. More vomiting was heard. Amethyst finally gained the courage to go in there and check on Barry. It was the boy's bathroom, but it was her boyfriend, she didn't care. She followed the sounds of disgust to the fourth open stall that he was sitting on. "Barry are y-" she completely stopped to gasp. He look absolutely terrible. She proceeded to walk in, but he stopped her. "No, the smell will knock you out." They both laughed, which was a bad idea since immediately after laughing, he vomited once again. "I've never seen you like this." She said. Barry looked up from the toilet bowl. "Then let this be the first you have." Jace then walked in, the two didn't notice his presence until her turned on the faucet. "Helloooo loved birds." Amethyst rolled her eyes. After a minute, Jace left. Both were relieved. Barry began to vomit again. She then lifted him up to his feet with a tiny bucket for him to vomit in on the way out. "Let's take this outside, okay?" Amethyst asked. He nodded in a shaken way. His arm wrapped around her shoulder once again. Izzy was first to greet the two. "Okay, so Magnus is working at the moment, so we have to turn to another option, which includes the use of runes." Barry almost ran out, but unexpectedly, Jace was at his side holding him down. "If I die today, Isabelle, I'll haunt your soul for the rest of your life." Izzy shivered at his words. After a while of vomiting, Barry was finally ready to go on with the drawing. He was tied down to a chair with belts to secure him. "Are the belts necessary?" He asked. Jace came around him to tighten another belt." When you feel it, they will be." Barry raised an eyebrow. Amethyst then came around hunched over to him and smiled. "I wouldn't be worried about it." Barry smiled also. "Because you know I'll be okay?" Amethyst shook her head." Nope, because it's not me who's going through this." "Very funny." Izzy then took her stele and hovered it around his hand a bit to see where to mark him. She then drew the rune ever so slowly. Barry tried his hardest to not make the pain unnoticeable. Jace was laughing, but not loudly, knowing Amethyst wasn't messing with him. "Are you done?" Barry asked panting. "Nope, 3 more to go." He threw his head back in the chair and sighed. After hours of drawing, they were all done. Jace began to untie the belts. "Why couldn't you shadow hunters find another way to draw runes, huh?" Izzy laughed. "I wish." She said tracing the angelic rune in the middle of her chest. He then held his mouth, pointing to the bucket rapidly. Izzy passed it and he vomited again. "I don't get it. The runes should have worked." Jace protests. Izzy shrugged."I don't know, but let's put it on file until further notice." Amethyst was way ahead of her, already handing her an empty file." Here, Barry, write down your information." He did.

He got up and fell to the ground. "Yea, walking isn't an option." Izzy said. Jace bursted out laughing. Amethyst snapped her fingers and shut him up. She helped Barry to the guest room and made him sleep. No, forced him to sleep. Everyone else slept peacefully the rest of the night. In the morning, Barry was rushed to Magnus's apartment. The whole ride there, Amethyst held his hand tightly. When they finally got there, Magnus was shocked. "By the Lilith, Brandon, you look absolutely atrocious!" He yelled, which woke up Alec. Barry's face was was paler than his regular skin tone, freckles he never had appeared on his face, and veins streaming from his eyes lightly. Magnus and Amethyst helped and set him down to the couch Magnus was just about to change. Amethyst's face had worry written all over it. "I'm fine..." Barry said. Magnus immediately widened his eyes, looking straight into his. "LIES!You are 10000% not fine!" He protests. He then ran to the kitchen to make him a healing solution. "Amethyst, dear, go work your magic on Barry, make sure he DOES NOT go to sleep, and tell Alec to please come and help me. " She nodded and headed to his bedroom. As she opened the door, she see Alec wide awake getting ready to go to the institute. "Good morning." He said. Amethyst waved. "Magnus needs your help for a solution." Alec raised an eyebrow. "Coming." He put down his stele and headed out with Amethyst to the kitchen, he soon got a glance and Barry, he thought the same as Magnus. "Alec, darling, take the mixture.." He paused to hand the pot of liquid to his control. "And stir fast. As soon as you feel it smooth, bring it immediately." He ordered. He got to work. "What's wrong with him?" Amethyst asked. Magnus smiled. "A demon disease that brings much hatred. Surely you must know." Amethyst rolled her eyes. "Amethyst, stop thinking that." Barry mumbled loud enough for only her to hear. She forgot he could read minds. "Sorry.." After a while, Magnus stopped in the middle of the room, examining everyone. He realized he was the only one rushing. "People! He has a disease, and you all aren't moving!" He yelled. Amethyst, however, was moving quite quickly. When she was done, she sat next to him, waiting for Magnus to give her the solution. Barry buried his head on her chest trying to find comfort. Magnus gazed at the couple, he smiled. He wasn't paying attention to his work, then he accidentally spilled some of the boiling hot water on his hands. "GAH!" He yelled. Alec came over to him to help. "You okay?" He asked as Magnus rubs his hand to sooth the pain, after a few seconds, it completely heals. "Better than ever." He answered. He then came over with a tea cup with the solution. Amethyst took it and gave it to Barry. When he did, nothing happened. "What the hell.." Magnus cursed. "I don't get it. It must work immediately unless it isn't effective....this is no disease.." Magnus almost yelled the last part. He scratched his head and brought Amethyst up off the couch. "Dear, did anything, oh I don't know, weird happen to you recently?" Amethyst swallowed hard. Alec answered instead. "Izzy said, the site she went to with Jace and Clary, she turned to like, a fire." Magnus's eyes widened. "No wonder!" Amethyst was confused. "So, why does-" Magnus stopped her. "Did you kiss him recently?" What an awkward question. She nodded, embarrassed to talk. "Well, there is our explanation. When Amethyst turned to "fire" she created a new chemical in her blood line that raced through her veins, muscles, nerves, etc. etc. So, when she kissed Barry, she transferred the chemical to his bloodline." He explained."And hopefully you didn't do anything else...." Alec mumbled. "So, all we need to do is remove the chemical?" Magnus nodded his head. "How?" She asked. Magnus laughed a bit. "You choose. Surgery or physical stress?" Amethyst raised an eyebrow. "Physical stress?" Magnus didn't want to explain, but by the look on his face, she knew exactly what he meant. "Are there any other options?" "He could transfer it back to you, then we can figure out your burning problem. " Amethyst didn't like the sound of any of the options. "Do whatever is best." She said. Magnus put his hands together. "Okay, well, you can leave Brandon here, Alec and I will work immediately, you go home and relax." He smiled. She did too, then left his apartment. Magnus then went into the kitchen and grabbed a single pill that was red and blue. He plopped it into Barry's mouth and he was asleep immediately. He then pulled on some gloves and got to work.
