What We've Become. (Epilogue)

Adam's POV-

A week went by with no talk of the nights events. Me and Max and Ross spoke like normal, nothing had changed at all. We just didn't talk about it.

Ross came to me after work one day with Max and we all had a little talk.

"So Adam. I've gotta confess..." Ross began.

"What?" I said, becoming slightly nervous. Ross stuttered and hesitated then paused. Looking down at his feet. Max was sitting beside him and put an arm around him.

"Just tell him buddy..." Max reassured.

"Tell me what?" I insisted, my voice a bit more stern.

"I never actually... I... I deleted that recording right after listening to it. I completely eradicated it." Ross confessed. I signed and looked down, placing my hands in a pyramid form and leaned on them and contemplated. On one hand, I was tricked, betrayed. Used. On the other hand, I was free, no ties to us, nothing.

"Okay?" I said, acting like I didn't care. "Thanks for telling me." I said slightly confused. "Did you think I'd be pissed off?"

"Aren't you?" Max chimed in, giving me a quizzical expression.

"Well yeah, but I don't regret what we did." I explained. Max smiled and Ross did too.

"Me neither." Ross said.

"I'd do it again if we could..." Max winked.

"No. It's over. We're over. I can't be doing this anymore, I can't!" I insisted. Max leaned forward and patted me on the shoulder, giving me a reassuring smile.

"No, I was kidding buddy..." Max said. I sighed and chuckled with them.

The next few months led to the start of our new lives, our better lives. I had a happy life with Alesa and Mason. Ross and Max became a couple of sorts, a kind of, friends with benefits. We all loved our jobs still and we all loved eachother. We were happy.
