Daughter of Charm, Son of Adventure (Sequel to Daughter of Life, Son of Death)

Fire and Water

Maya showed her powers to the others. "Wow. That's amazing!" Olivia breathed. "Incredible. The Daughter of Charm can control water!" Soren gasped. They looked at the scroll. "So, I can track my ancestors with this thing?" said Maya. "Well, it will take a while, but with luck I'll have your entire family in a few days." Ivor assured. "I can't believe this! We actually have superpowers! It's amazing!" Aiden squealed excitedly. "And the elements are only the beginning. Watch this!" Jesse stood back, and closed his eyes. His skin and hair became glossy black feathers, and he grew smaller. Soon, where he was stood a majestic black swan. "OK, I had literally no idea we could do that!" Olivia gasped. "Try it!" Jesse insisted. Jess suddenly turned into a white swan. "I guess that makes sense. They're twins." Axel shrugged. "All of us can turn into an animal each." Jesse explained, "Except for the Son of Friendship. He can do literally any creature he wants to bond with them. He can also speak their language, while we can't." he continued and pointed a wing at a name.
Re = Friendship.
Axel managed to turn into a fox, Olivia could become a hummingbird, and Lukas ironically became an ocelot. "I could not be surprised if I wanted to." Jess grinned, but suddenly Lukas started sneezing. "What's wrong?" Axel asked. "I'm -atchoo- allergic -atchoo- to cats!" Lukas sniffed. Jesse tried not to laugh. "Wow. Seriously?" he smiled while Lukas continued to sneeze until he turned back. Maya concentrated, then she felt a tingling. The fur grew on her, so did her teeth, and she was on all fours. She had become a beautiful blue wolf, with water droplets on her fur. Aiden meanwhile had become a handsome red-orange wolf, and embers and tiny stars glinted on his hide. "You're connected in some way, I just know it." Ivor said to himself. He glanced at the scroll again, but then he saw something.
Em = Shadow
Soren saw his friend looking down. He decided he would ask about it later. Everyone turned back into humans, except for Aiden and Maya. "I'm gonna go for a run!" and with that, Aiden ran out of the library and darted outside. "Hey! Wait up!" Maya sprinted after him. Aiden ran through the woods, feeling the wind rush in his fur. Was this what it felt like to be wild? To be... free? Because it felt good. Then Aiden decided he would play with Maya. "Catch me if you can!" he called and went faster. Maya went after him. They dodged trees, dashed through puddles and all the time Maya pursued Aiden.

But suddenly Aiden felt himself getting hotter, and not from the running. His fur was ablaze. He yelped and jumped around in a frenzy. "Oh no!" Maya began to panic. Then she remembered the drops on her own fur. She tackled Aiden to the ground, and the fire died. Aiden whimpered, completely scorched. "Are you OK?" Maya asked worriedly. She was still on top of him. They both got up, and Maya took a look at Aiden's burns. Knowing what she had to do, she sighed and began to lick him. Aiden blushed lightly. He had gotten a fright when he was suddenly on fire. But Maya had saved him, otherwise he could have burnt to death. How did he set on fire, anyway? Was fire one of his powers? The two hadn't noticed that they had turned back into humans, and half of Aiden's clothing had been burnt off. To be honest, if anyone had seen them it would look pretty strange to see a human girl licking a burnt human boy. But luckily they were in a part of the forest that was dense with trees. When they finally realised they had turned back, they flew apart, blushing deeply. "We... we should probably get back..." Aiden said at last.

They walked back, no longer wolves, and went into the temple, where everyone else was waiting for them. The first thing said was by Axel:
"What did you two do?" he grinned.
"What? Nothing!" Maya said quickly. "Oh yeah? You're blushing!" Olivia teased. "No we're not!" Aiden and Maya both said at the same time. The others noticed the black patches on Aiden. "That's to be expected." Lukas said casually, "Aiden has power over guides, which means stars, fire, and wind. Getting excited must have accidentally activated them, setting yourself alight by mistake." he explained. Axel and Olivia kept teasing them. Axel whispered in Aiden's ear. "You wanna kiss her! I know you do!" he taunted. "Shut up!" Aiden hissed. "So, did you like what you saw when his clothes were burnt off?" Olivia laughed. "Quit it!" Maya shot water in Olivia's face. The two were scarlet in the face. They ran off in embarrassment. "Don't you think you were going too far?" Petra asked. "Nope!" Axel and Olivia both laughed.

Maya buried her face in her pillow. "I don't love Aiden!" she screamed into it. "He's just a friend! Notch damn it Olivia and Axel!" she sighed. She picked up the Shell Wand, hoping to try again. But she didn't expect what was coming next. Suddenly the Wand began to glow blue, then an image appeared at the tip. It was a party... no, a ball... and two figures were dancing with each other. Maya couldn't make out what they looked like. She just watched as the image faded.

Meanwhile, Aiden had different thoughts about what Axel had said. If he was honest with himself, he had had a crush on Maya for a long time. He wouldn't ever admit it though. Aiden sighed and lay on his bed, staring up at the ceiling.
I guess she's kinda cute...
