~~Souji's POV~~
Hijikata had sent me to go talk with Mei. He had ordered no one was to interrupt Sakura's time with Yamazaki. They didn't need a warning to do that.
"Hey, kid, wanna tell me what happened?" I ask the little girl who was quietly sitting under the tree with Saitou on the bench. She shakes her head no. "Come on, I wanna know. I'm worried about her." The little girl looks away.
"I don't know. I woke up and she was crying." This alarmed me. She was never one to just break down. "She couldn't hear me. She just talked to herself."
"About what?" Now Saitou was in this.
"My mom. She kept saying all the bad things she did to her so I got mad. I couldn't stop myself from hurting her. Sakura did bad things... She said that what happened to me and my mom is her fault. That we wouldn't feel pain if it wasn't for her. She said that she abandoned my mom."
Sakura... It must've been triggered from when Mei had called out for her mom. It probably had unlocked another door to her past causing the flood of emotion.
Her past was a scary thing. She was opened about it and despite the pain it caused her to share it she still pressed on. But little did we know that whatever she told us was just scraping the surfaces. I had learned that on my own. She held back for our sake.
"Mei, did Sakura's hair turn white at all? Or did her eyes change color?" I ask.
"No, I don't think she could see anything though. She didn't do anything when I hit her."
"How are you doing, Souji?" Saitou asks making me sigh.
"Alright, Sakura managed to heal me. It's convenient that I didn't have to sleep through it this time. Last time wasn't that easy."
"Remember last time how you were connected to Sakura? Did it happen again?" I was hoping that I would but no.
"No, somehow she was able to rush it. But did you hear that guy?" Saitou nods.
"I believe that's why Amagiri was coming. To escort her."
"She hates me." We look in surprise at the weeping girl.
"Sakura?" I ask to make sure. She nods.
"I was no better than other furies. If those two people hadn't come... I would've ate her." They look at her in surprise. "There was so much blood and I couldn't help myself. Her blood... I love it." As much as she fooled us we couldn't deny what she really was. A fury.
Saitou looked to me knowing the only one who could comfort her, the only one who could understand was Sakura.
"She looked at me like the man did. Like I was a monster, a parasite. She tied the sash around her eyes because she couldn't stand to look at me." We couldn't deny it. I had saw up close of the anger in her eyes. But I had to help Sakura out somehow.
"Sakura has had a lot of problems when it comes to her past. Yamazaki can help her but I think she was mad at herself." Mei looks up at me. "She doesn't like to lose it like that in front of others, she doesn't like to be vulnerable. She's probably ashamed that she let you see that."
"Really?" She looked at me hopefully.
"Yeah, who else could know her better than me?" She smiles nodding.
"Can I see her? I wanna say sorry." She nods standing up, wiping her tears away.
"Sorry, but she's having a session with Yamazaki. She usually calms down after that. You can see her when they're done." She nods sadly.
