Sparks flew as my sword collided with mentor's sword. I pushed all my weight on him and he started to struggle for a way to escape. Not today. As he tempted to pull back and swung under his arm, knocking his weapon to the ground. My blade extended forward towards his neck. "I win again Royce. You owe me another beer tonight!"

He chuckled and moved my blade to the side with his hand. "Alright, Rion. I admit defeat, but with the way you drink, I'll be broke soon. Please try to keep the intake low this time?" He gathered his sword from the ground and sheathed it. I did the same with mine.

"You know that won't happen. Let's not forget that I'm a heavy weight. I beat everyone at the bar when it comes to drinking. Even my old man long ago. But, I guess I can ease up a little this time." I joked. Royce just smiled and punch my arm playfully.

Royce Gram was my mentor since I was as young as five. He has been a blacksmith and a sword master for the kingdom for about twenty-five years and counting. He was only in his mid-forties, but his hair was starting to turn white and he isn't as spry as he used to be when we first trained together. He was like a father to me now, and I know that he would look after me whenever I needed the help. He was my mentor, my friend, and my drinking buddy.

I started to clean my sword when a young man entered the training area. He wore the kingdom colors of orange and navy blue and carried a large tote full of letters. The messenger approached me and handed me a scrap of paper. "You have been summoned by the majesties. They wish to provide you another task."

I skimmed over the paper and nodded, "I'll be on my way then I suppose. See ya later, Royce!"

He waved in response and I started to make my way towards the castle. The street were bustling with activity. Bakers trying to sell bread, farmers trying to sell produce, seamstresses trying to sell clothes, and witch doctors trying to sell "medicines." Regardless of how busy it is, people made way for me to walk swiftly. They smiled and waved at me, which I returned to them. Children tried to navigate through the crowd to catch a glimpse of me. I overheard a child talk to another little boy, "That's the great Knight Orion! She saved this kingdom from a dragon once! She's so cool!"

I stopped in my tracks and turned to the boys. They had a look of awe as I noticed them. I patted them on their heads and spoke, "The dragon was just lost."

I then turned back around and I can hear them sigh in amazement. Stories like that often build up when your a knight. People would witness events and then amp it up for a better story. I didn't slay a dragon, but instead just gave it directions to the nearest cave. Everyone freaked out though, because it's very rare that you see a dragon now a days. The myths about them eating people and breathing fire doesn't really help them either.

I got closer to the palace gates and the guards opened the doors for me. I always hated the palace. It was too clean, and restricting. I much preferred the life outside the walls. Outside was freeing and exciting. Inside was boring and complicated. Anyways, I headed to the throne room and saw the king and queen sitting in there seats. The princess was also sitting next to them in a pink dress. Here we go.

"Knight Orion! Lovely to see you once again, " the king began. I responded with a bow. "I see you just came back from training. Very good! I would love to hear about it, but there are more important matters to discuss right now, and time is of the essence!"

The king has always been a jolly man. He had rosy cheeks and and a grey mustache that curled at the tips. His old appearance didn't match the queen's however. She was much younger and had a tight face. Her dark eyes and black hair was intimidating to most, and her personality was sour. It was a wonder how she and the king loved each other.
