Chapter 38: Decision Adventure

I woke up to the sound of Princess Ava throwing a little tantrum over the colors of the tablecloths. The ballroom was far from the bedrooms, but her voice can travel far when she's upset. "I told you! Everything has to be pink so it matches my dress! Doesn't anyone actually listen around here?"

My ears could not handle this right now. I got up from my bed and changed into some casual clothes. I was going to eat breakfast in the garden. Hopefully the sound of the birds and water fountain will drown out her screeching.

Servants and maids hustled through the halls, cleaning and setting up decorations that met the princess's standards. One of the servants caught my eye and smiled shyly. "Oh my, I am so sorry to disturb you, Knight Orion. I assume that you wish to have breakfast this morning. May I suggest eating in the royal garden this morning?"

"Already ahead of you. Thank you so much. I'll help you guys out after I eat."

He bowed and went to fetch something to eat. I made my way to the garden and sat at a metal table near the grand fountain. The sun was beating down, warming up my skin. The small splashed from the fountain that occasionally met me felt rejuvenating. The same servant that was running through the halls set a plate of cheese, fruit, bread and jam in front of me.

"Thank you, sir. This looks delicious."

"Of course, Knight Orion. The baker is making fresh chocolate croissants as we speak for tonight's ball. If you wish, I can ask the baker to sneak one to you this morning?" He offered.

I happily nodded. He left to fetch me some fresh dessert to go with my breakfast. I spread the jam on the slices of bread and enjoyed my meal. The last time I had a good breakfast was with Cinder back in Agrabah. I then suddenly remembered Genie who was still stuck in the lamp.

I bolted right out of my seat to retrieve the lamp from my room. It was sitting in my satchel on a desk. I was relieved that I didn't lose it. I took it back to the garden and sat back down.

The lamp immediately shook as soon as I rubbed it. Blue smoke began to pour out of the spout and Genie floated proud and tall. He stretched and cracked his neck. "Man, it's been a long time since you summoned me. How's things?"

"Hey, Genie. We're back in my kingdom and the quest is complete for the most part. I think it's about time I fulfilled my promise to set you free."

Genie's face sunk a little but he seemed grateful. "Oh, Orion. I'm glad that you remembered me. I just want to make sure that you are okay with letting me go first. Are you sure that there isn't anything you want? More than anything in the entire world. If there is, I am more than willing to grant you that wish instead of going free."

Not gonna lie, that was so sweet of him that I almost choked up a bit. I shook my head. "I am positively sure that there is nothing else that I want other than your freedom. So, Genie, I wish that you were free."

More blue smoke began to swirl around Genie and his golden cuffs became unlocked. He rubbed his wrists and beamed at me. "You are the bestest friend I have ever had. Thank you, Rion."

"No problem at all. Now go off on your adventure. Go see the world!" I encouraged.

Genie flew up into the air and waved goodbye. "I'm outta here! I'll never forget you!"

I grinned as he disappeared to wherever he was going to visit first. I took a bite of my toast. For some reason, the jam tastes much sweeter than usual. Must be because I felt exceptionally good right now.

I spent the rest of my morning gazing into the fountain and enjoying my fresh pastry that was delivered to me. As soon as I was done with breakfast, I headed back into the palace to fix everything up for the ball.
