I slowly opened my eyes, finding myself in a white room. My body still ached but not as much as before. I sat up, trying to find any clues as to where I exactly was. The window revealed the outside, which was full of lush trees and wild animals were everywhere. Gardeners were also outside, but the animals didn't seem intimidated at all by them. A man picked an apple off of a tree and sliced it for a deer to eat.
I noticed that I wasn't wearing anything except my underwear and some bandages. A doctor must've patched me up. There was a large mirror on the other side of the wall but I had to move closer in order to see my own reflection. And that's what I did. I had to balance myself against the mirror with both of my hands. The heat from my hands quickly fogged and smudged the glass.
There was a clean patch that was placed on my right cheek. I removed it using one hand to find four fading scars. A part of me was relieved that it wasn't too serious of an injury and there will be no scars soon, but that also made me wonder how long I've been out cold for the scratched to scar up.
I removed the rest of my bandages that were wrapped almost all over my body. Bruises and scars were also starting to fade away from the fight. Grabbing a shirt and pants from my travel which was placed on a table for me, I got dressed and slowly wandered out of my room. No one was down the corridors, and no noises could be heard from the inside. I could only hear the songbirds outside and the echos of my own footsteps.
I then came upon a large door which was painted white with gold designs on the front. Whispers came from the other side and I opened it up. 5 men stared at me as I entered.
"Rion!" Cinder called out to me. Blaise also seemed shocked that I was up and moving. Cinder's shout gave me a slight headache and I leaned against the door frame. One of the stranger made his way towards me.
His hair was black and natural swept to the side. It wasn't as long as Blaise's but wasn't as short as Cinder's. The length was just a little past his ears. His skin was pale and his eyes were brown like dark cherry wood. He looked serious and almost intimidating, but he gently held me steady as he guided me to a nearby chair.
He laid his hand down on my forehead, which was cool and soothing. My headache started to go away. "Knight Orion, I am Prince Snowen. Right now you are in the White Kingdom and you have been recovering from your battle with the witch in the Enchanted Ice Forest for about two days. Prince Cinder and Prince Blaise have informed of your quest and reasons for being here."
"Two days?" I questioned. "What happened during that time?"
"When the witch scratched you poison entered your blood stream. Any longer and you would've been dead. Luckily, me and my guards were patrolling the area in search of the witch. We've been hunting her for years, and her location was finally revealed when you engaged in combat with her. I was impressed that you three took her down, but it was no surprise you suffered injuries."
"One of our specialties in this kingdom is sorcery. I took care of you myself and used my power to quickly heal you before the poison could take it's full effect. The other princes have also been healed and have waited for you to wake up." Prince Snowen explained to me.
He finally raised his hand away from me and touched my cheek. "Any other person would've been dead in seconds coming into contact with her poison. So why didn't you?"
A guard cleared his throat to grab his attention. "The meeting is about to start in ten minutes my lord."
Prince Snowen removed his hand. "Knight Orion, I expect you to be at my living quarters at 9 o'clock tonight to give you my answer regarding the journey."
And with that, he and the guards left the room. As soon as the door clicked closed, Cinder took the seat across from me. "Are you okay, Rion? I'm sorry about shouting before. I was just really relieved to see you."
