I'm currently sitting on my stairway looking longingly at the damned door hoping for Jake, my boyfriend for three years to make an appearance.
My feet slowly giving in to the pain caused by the straps of my heels. My chest squeezed tightly to make my figure stand out.
The discomfort caused by the dress was little to nothing compared to the discomfort caused by my lower back pressed against the stair.
My eyes starting to tear up as they drooped lazily remembering the day I spent working on my research.
Why am I here? Well, today is the day he choose to take me out for a romantic dinner.
He isn't late, just not early.
The anxiety was setting in as I slipped out my phone, my hand hovering over the call button.
I didn't doubt his arrival, I knew he'd come I'm worried where he might be right now. Is he safe?
Not wanting to let my mind overthink the situation I pressed the call button, my heartbeat in sync with the ring.
" Baby, you have to open your eyes to see me."
I hadn't realised my eyes were shut till I heard his voice echoing through the hall." When-what? How? " I asked looking at him moving my hands frantically.
" I've been here for a while, you didn't see me. But I could see your worry lines forming." I looked into his hazel eyes as he smiled at me softly.
" I was worried." I confessed keeping my plam on his cheek.
" Come on, I'm sorry I'm late." I wasn't satisfied by his meek apology but I trust him enough to not question him anymore."You look gorgeous, by the way. Like always." He complimented placing a soft kiss on my cheek as we made our way out.
" You are obliged to say that. It's your job." I chuckled lowly.
" You could wear a garbage bag and you'd still look beautiful. I don't say it because I have to, I say it because it's the truth, Tee." The sincerity in his voice got me every time. But I still can't believe he thinks I'm beautiful. Because I'm anything but.
"You have the look on your face again." He sighed dramatically.
" Stop over thinking. You are the most beautiful woman I've seen and will ever see. You got to accept certain things and my love for you is one of them." He reassured putting my seat belt on."Where are we going?" I asked not wanting to dwell on his words longer.
" You know I won't tell you." He winked at me as he started the car." I know, I know. It's a surprise." I rolled my eyes as he laughed in amusement.
" I don't like you spending money on me." I stated feeling insecure.
" I don't like you going through the pain for me." He retorted as I looked at him in confusion." I haven't gone through anything for you." I shook my head remembering all the things I have done with him or for him.
"Marshmallow, I know you for years. I understand how you dress, how you look. I've mesmerised it all. I can see that you're not comfortable in what you've put on to impress me. What you don't understand is that I'm already impressed." His words hit me right through. We had, I assume, reached our destination as he cut off the engine and turned to me.
"I know the real you. While I like this you too. I'm in love with a one which is entirely different. I love you, Marshmallow. And I will for as long as I can."
I felt tears run down my face. He knew me too well, it's hard to hide anything from him.
" I love you too." I managed to choke out as he pulled me into a hug.
"Let's see what you have planned for us." I smiled at him as he pulled away and gently wiped my tears.
He pulled open my door, like a true gentleman would.I was greeted with a familiar housing set up.
He walked us in through the known steps. The living room was decorated beautifully with small lights and candles lighting up the hall.
" It's breathtaking." I whispered in awe.
" Yes, you are." I blushed at his words. Three years and I still blush like I'm a school girl getting asked out to prom.He led me to his pool side where I saw a small table set up perfectly for two.
The lighting was romantic and the music that hummed in the background filled in on the silence.
I turned to remark the place when I saw Jake on his knee.I gasped as a small black box made an appearance.
"Timara Jannie Morgan. I love you to the moon and back. Everytime I remember you, see you it's like the first time. The day I got the courage to ask a beautiful girl like you to be my girlfriend was possibly my best day. You were with me through thick and thin. Love and hatred. Fights and make ups. I can't imagine life without you, heck, I can't imagine a moment without you." He spoke softly but I heard his every word."You are everything a guy wants, needs but you're also too blind to see that which made you fall in love with me. But soon you'll realise that you can do much better so before that moment I need to make you mine so no one can take you from me, no matter how much they try."
"Please make me the happiest man alive and accept my proposal? Marry me, be mine."
"I-I" I choked out as words couldn't make their way through my throat.
" I know you want to-" I cut off his nervous rant by kissing him." You had me at Timara." I whispered smiling like a fool.
" Is that a yes?"
" Yes, a million times yes." The coldness of the finger sent a shiver on my spine.
" I love you so much, Jake Kyle Hunter." I whispered hugging him tightly.I froze suddenly feeling his hand at my dresses zipper. For the three years we were together he never forced me into anything. I am ready but for now I want to enjoy this moment, enjoy us.
" Jak-" I started not knowing what I had to say.
" We aren't going to do anything you don't want to. I just want you out of these uncomfortable clothes and those killer heels." I laughed at his boyish humour.
" It was all worth it. You are worth it." I whispered feeling the dress slip off my shoulders slightly as we swayed to the slow beat.
" I love you, soon-to-be Mrs. Hunter."
"I love you too" I replied as I felt the dress pool at my feet.
Love is worth it.
