There is a theory. You only fall in love once. But, how is that so? You fall in love when you believe you fall in love.
A five year old claims to be in love with his four year old classmate, an eighteen year old declares his love for his girlfriend and a forty year old for his wife.
Now, those aren't instances from lives of different people, actually, it's pretty much the same person's story. My story.
When I was five, I fell in love with a girl named Rosabella. Her hair used to be tied in a pony tail letting her blonde ringlets dangle above her ears.
I still remember, on the last day of school I had waved her goodbye and she had placed a kiss on my cheek. At that age, I thought it was all, I had found the one.We grew up to be great friends, still are. Our kids often meet up for sleepovers and all sorts of things, her husband is a dear friend of mine.
When I was at the brink of my teenage I had fallen deeply in love with a girl named Emily, her black hair fell till her shoulders and her bright blue eyes shined. At the age of eighteen I took her out on a date, sat her on the booth and knelt down. The surprise her face expressed made me realise the time was not right, so I took it well and confessed my love for her instead.I wouldn't say I didn't think of marrying her one day, I did. Just, before I could reach that threshold, she left. I never met her again after that day at the airport when she left to pursue her career as a fashion designer. I have got to say, the next 2 months were absolutely terrifying as I thought I'd never love again.
But that faithful day came when I bumped into my realtor's daughter.
Jasmine Hart. She was truly magnificent. Her long blonde hair smelt like freshly picked strawberries and her blue eyes pierced a man's soul. She spoke to me the way no one ever dared to and somehow, that won my heart over. And after dating for five years, at the age of twenty eight I proposed to her. She said yes and now is the mother of our son and beautiful daughter. Being together for 20 years has proven to be the best. She is my everything and after many years, it all feels perfect.
Now, sitting on the couch and flipping through the news paper as my wife sits opposite looking into her office papers makes me realise how far I've come."Jas." I called out, looking at her.
"Yes?" She replied still having her nose buried in work."I love you." I stated making her look up to me with the same look, staring into my soul.
"I love you too, Trevor." She smiled at me when I got up to go towards her.
I looked at her and bent down to kiss her, her lips still feeling the same against mine, perfection."Guys! We have warned you about the living room!" We both laughed at the voice of our son at the door of the house with an overnight bag on his shoulder.
"Oh god, I completely forgot it's barbeque sunday." Jasmine gasped, brushing past me as I pulled her to me to whisper in her ear.
"This is not over." She still blushed the same way and my son still made gagging noises the same way.
