Selena stood still infront of the receptionist, waiting for the short haired twenty something girl to look her way.

She looked up at the high ceiling and the chandelier hanging from it. The corporate office building was one she had sworn not to step in again but now she was desperate. Her child needed her.

"Yes?" The receptionist asked, finally looking her way.
Selena cleared her throat opened her mouth to reply.

"I need to meet Mr. Montero." Her voice was soft, almost drowning under the noise of the busy workers.

"Do you have an appointment, ma'am?" Lina, the receptionist, asked in a sweet and welcoming voice.
"No, but I would only require five minutes of his time, please, it's urgent." She pleaded, each ticking second making her cringe.

Lina was quite skeptical of the lady dressed in distressed clothes who requested to meet the CEO of such a prestigious company. It wasn't the first instance a female had asked for five minutes of Damon Montero's time.

"Ma'am, due to security restrictions we cannot allow you to meet him without an appointment. If you could tell me your requirement I'll make sure to put in a good word." Lina pitied the women, she looked hardly twenty six but her eyes held such sadness, it was wearing her down.

"That's very kind of you, but due to personal reasons I can't disclose my requirements. Maybe I can sit here? He ought to leave the office some time or the other." Once again Lina was unsure of what to do, how can she say no to her? But her job told her to send away the ones which put off warning bells.

"I-" She had started to refuse but when she looked at Selena's eyes water and changed her words, "I will call him, can you please give me your name?" She looked as Selena's eyes widen in disbelief at her offer.

"Selena Queen." She replied quickly not wanting to lose the opportunity.
Lina dialed the main office's number and heard it ring.

"Hello, Damon Montero's office." Came his strong commanding voice, oozing power.
"Sir, there is a women named Selena Queen requesting to see you, she looks very perturbed." Lina tried to put in as many convincing words as she could and gave the lady a reassuring smile.

The line was silent for a really long time.

"Sir?"

"Selena Queen, did you say?"

"Yes, sir."

"Send her up immediately, my office."

"Alright, sir."

She put the phone down and smiled brightly at Selena, seeing her eyes light up.

"You must be very important, he has asked you to go up right away." Lina handed her a visitors card and pointed out the direction.

"First left on the ninth floor. The name is written on the door."
"Thank you so much." Selena was more than gratefully to see such a lovely face.

She wasted no time to go to the lift and up to his office.

She knocked on the door softly, her heart thumping louder than her knocks.

"Come in." His voice sounded like melted chocolate, just as she remembered soft and soothing.
She pushed open the door and looked up to see azure eyes staring intensely back at her.

"Selena." He breathed out, his broad shoulders were covered with a white shirt with sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His brown hair was pushed back neatly with only one traitor strand falling over his forehead making her hand itch to brush it back.

His talk figure stalked towards her, so close that she was surrounded by his cologne, the musky scent hadn't changed in the last six years.

Damon Montero had expected to never see the beautiful women ever again. After spending an unforgettable night six years back, she had vanished, off the grid. He had searched everywhere for her- gone as far as going to her parents house who had turned their faces away claiming they had disowned their only child for reasons unknown.

"What brings you here?" He asked, seeing her warm brown eyes darken by sadness, her face drooping because of the burdens of the world.

"I need money." At her words, he stepped back. It wasn't unexpected for people to think he has money, he did but it always caught him off guard when they asked so directly.
"I'm sorry?" He said, hoping she'd change his words. But her reactions broke his heart.

Tears brimmed in her eyes and she fell to her knees, forcing him to lend a hand.

"I know this is a horrible thing to ask for and I've completely fallen in your eyes, but please, my daughter sh-" Selena was never the one to cry hysterically infront of anyone, let alone a guy she left behind.

Damon pulled her up and in his arms, guiding her to the sofa trying to calm her sobbing figure. A million doubts clouded his senses, who was the father? Did he leave her? Who in their right minds would leave her?

"What happened? Don't worry, I'll do everything I possibly can." She looked at him as though he had just saved her life. He still wondered why she needed money, as far as he could recall, she had a very successful career waiting for her.

"Thank you, Damon. I owe you my life." She took deep breaths knowing what she had to say next.

"My little baby girl is fighting for her life in the hospital, Damon. She has a hole in her heart and the money they are asking for it after surgery is impossible for me to pay." She fiddled with her hands, she was still not telling him the most important thing of all.

"I'm so sorry, Selena. Tell me what hospital it is, I'll transfer the money right away." She looked at him, shocked, she always knew he had a big heart and wouldn't refuse but his immediate assistance was something she admired.

"City hall. I'll pay you back, Damon, I swear I will." She said, taking out the hospital file from here bag and handing it to him. Her hands shook as she knew what was to come.

He looked at him go over the details and the change in his expressions.
"Selena. Is- Is-" he choked on his words looking up at her slowly.

She said nothing, just shifted her gaze to the abstract pattern on the floor.

"Look at me-" He demanded, forcing her eyes to find his again.
"Is, is Safira mine?" Damon was shocked to see Selena daughters age to be five and a half. According to his calculations there was only one possibility.

"Yes." She whispered softly, still looking down.

Damons world was spinning. He didn't know what to make of it, up until yesterday he went home thinking he'd never live to call someone his child and now she drops this on him.

"Is she alright, is our baby alright?" He asked, immediately remembering why she was here in the first place. His heart broke thinking about that little life facing so much at such a tender age.

Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as he called her baby theirs. He had accepted her-her baby.

"They can't say, yet. She is recovering well b-but it's still unsure." Her voice broke.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, hurt at the realisation.
"I didn't know how to, we were both so very young and hardly knew each other. You had this empire to strengthen and I couldn't take away your dream." She breathed out, hiding her own fears.

"I don't agree with your decisions but right now we need to worry about Safi."

She nodded at him, for her he was no short of an angel of life.
