Finally. The last day of high school. Dad was right. The diner business has been booming. In the past two weeks we have had almost a thousand customers and that's huge for us. As for Luke and I, we've been talking quite a lot. Because of graduation, work, and studying we haven't had the chance to actually hang out. I was preparing for graduation when my phone rang. It was Luke.
"Hey Addie!" He excitedly exclaimed into the phone.
"Hey!"
"How have you been?" I laughed.
"Luke, we talked last night."
"I know I know. I was just wondering."
"Nervous and excited. I cannot believe it's time to graduate."
"I know right! It's crazy. It's a shame that we met only a month ago." I blushed and thanked God that he couldn't see me.
"I know. It sucks. Who was that?" I heard a voice in the back ground calling his name.
"Ugh," he groaned. "It's my mom. I gotta go iron my shirt."
"Okay," I laughed. "I'll see you later. Bye Luke."
"Bye Addie." I set my phone down and went to my closet to get my graduation dress.
"Addie?" My dad called.
"Hold on, I'm changing!" My mom's parents were in town and my dad's mom was too. My grandfather died two years ago.
I slipped into my dress and fixed my curls. Once I had my shoes on and checked the time which said I had thirty minutes until I had to be at the auditorium. When I walked into the living room, pictures were immediately taken.
"Nana!" I laughed covering my face. "I'm not ready." Nana was my dad's mom.
"Sorry, dear. I just want to catch you in the moment." We went outside to the steps to our front door to take pictures.
When the picture taking was finally done, we could head off to school. The place was crowded. All seniors were to report to the auditorium. I was so excited that summer was finally here and that school was almost over. Because of my open schedule, I would be able to work two jobs this summer, hopefully one at our orthodontist. I dreamed of going to John Williams to become an orthodontist. It has been a dream of mine since I was 14.
Eventually the auditorium was full of blue gowns and the families of the students. Principal Decker came onto the stage and did the typical "farewell" and "good luck" speech. When that was over, it was time for the ceremony. The graduation music played lowly in the background. It was in alphabetical order so I had a while before I went up.

"Addie! Congratulations!" My parents exclaimed, engulfing me in a giant hug.
"More pictures!" Nana announced. We all gathered up in front of the main entrance and took around 100 pictures.
"Well, your grandfather and I have offered to take you out to dinner," my grandma offered. We all agreed on my favorite restaurant, Magnolia's. We piled into the car and all drove off. I shed a few tears but blamed it on the air conditioning.
Dinner was nice. I mostly talked about memories and how I was excited for the future to come. We eventually went home and I was surprised to get a few gifts.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Oh, just a few things we wanted to get you," Dad answered.
"Aw, you guys!" I felt the tears reappearing. I walked over and opened the smallest one first. It was diamond earrings.
"They were your great grandmothers," Nana assured.
"Thank you!" When I finished opening up the presents I had received, which were a new iPhone 6s, a hundred dollars, and some new clothes and shoes, I heard a knock on the door. "I'll get that!" I got up from the couch and walked over to the door.
"Hey!"
"Luke?" I stepped outside, closing the door behind me. "What are you doing here?"
"I got you something?"
"Why? I didn't get you anything."
"It's okay. Don't worry about it." He handed me a small box and walked away. "See ya later!"
"Bye?" I walked back inside.
"Who was that?" My dad asked.
"Oh, just a friend." I gathered my gifts and bid my good-nights and thank you's before heading upstairs. I hadn't opened up the gift from Luke yet. I waited until I was in private. I set all the goodies on my desk and sat down on my bed, removing my shoes. I slowly ripped off the paper and opened the box. It was a necklace.
"Follow your dreams, always." -Taylor Swift
I smiled to myself and put it on. It was perfect. I got my phone and sent Luke a quick text.
Me: OMG! Thank you soooo much for the necklace. I LOVE it!
A few minutes later, my phone buzzed.
Luke: Good, I hoped you would. What all did you get?
Me: money, earrings, clothes, shoes, and your necklace. what did you get?
Luke: money, watch, and a college tuition
I laughed to myself at his joke.
Me: Well, I'm gonna head to bed. Night ;)
Luke: Night, sweetheart <3
I smiled and set my phone down, mentally reminding myself to set up my new one tomorrow. I got up to brush my teeth and wash my face. Once done, I changed into my pajamas and crawled into bed, turning off the light, and fell asleep.
