New Home - Robin x Child!Reader

A/N: Not a romantic story this time, but one that's kind of like a family fan-fic. 

You stayed silent as you peered out from the alleyway, staring at the food stand that was close by. Many fruits and vegetables were lined around it, each fresh and ready to be bought. The owner of the stand kept his eyes on the young blond haired man that was asking him questions about his goods. The customer looked strange to you as his blond hair covered his left eye while his eyebrow had a swirl at the end that faced inward. Quietly you crept forward, making sure that no one in the sea of people was paying attention to you.

As you grew closer to the stand, your stomach started to churn as you grew nervous. You silently told yourself to calm down as you now reached the stand. You looked at the owner to make sure that he was still paying attention to the swirly brow man. Confirming that neither were paying attention to you and that no one in the massive crowd of people was even acknowledging you, you reached up. You held onto the stand while standing up on your tippy toes and feeling around for any kind of food you could get your hands on.

Once your fingers brushed against the smooth surface of an apple you grabbed it and pulled it back down towards your chest. Holding it close to your body you started to walk away from the stand. "Hey, kid" you heard the stern voice of the blond man call out to you as your body tensed up. Shakily you looked back to find both his and the owner of the stand eyes glaring straight at you. "Don't you think you should pay for that?" the man asked.

You gave a nervous laugh before you started to run. "Thief!" you heard the owner of the stand call out as you ran as fast as you could. You shut your eyes and pushed yourself rudely pass all the pedestrians that were walking around. As you turned a corner you yelped when you felt your small body run into someone. You fell back onto your bottom, the apple that was in your hands falling from your grasp and started to roll away.

You reached out, grasping at the air as you kept leaning forward 'til your body fell over and the apple rolled into one of the vents that led to the sewers. Your face fell as you sat there now in disbelief before sighing in disappointment and looking up at the person you had run into. A tall, raven haired woman stared down at you with calming blue eyes as she tilted her head. "Are you alright?" she asked, her voice was soothing and the tone of it reminded you of a mother. Before you could answer, your body tensed up as you heard rushing footsteps coming up from behind.

Looking back you found the stand owner and the blond rushing towards you. Quickly standing up, you pushed pass the woman and started to run once again. You didn't look back as you listened to the store owner cursing while his shouts faded away the further away you got.

-Time Skip-

You whimpered as you leaned back against the wooden wall of the back alleyway you were hiding in. Your hand rubbed your stomach as it growled fiercely. Lifting up the rags that you called your shirt you wanted to cry at how flat your stomach had become. You could now see the outline of your rib cage since it had now been over two weeks since you last ate. Your ears perked up at the faint sounds of cheering that came from within bar that you were leaning up against. Huffing as you mentally cursed the blond man from earlier for getting you caught.

You pulled your legs up to your chest and wrapped your arms tightly around them while burying your face in your knees. You peered up as you felt a tap on your shoulder, but as you looked up you found no one there. "What?" you questioned, your voice horse as you looked around before feeling something being dropped onto your head and fall onto your lap. It was an apple, peering around once again you raised an eyebrow before picking up the fruit and biting into it. You hummed in delight as you continued to eat the fruit as fast as you could.
